Acoustic Comfort

If you have the ACP are you tinting your front windshield or does it need it?

If you are tinting for heat rejection, the acoustic package does an excellent job.
My black car doesn't gain heat as much as I thought it would. 🙂

Nope, just tinted front windows to match the factory tint on rears.

Question: when stating “tinted front windows,” and “windows” being plural, suggest that the front doors windows will be extra tinted. Will such tint meet the window tint laws in all U.S. states?

Tint varies as do state laws. Probably most Tints are not legal but maybe rarely enforced. Several of our cars have had an illegal tint and never had an issue over the years.
I’m not a fan of the Acoustic windshield because small rock Chips seem to result in a large crack. The inconvenience of getting a new windshield and then recalibration is a pain. Without Acoustic the GLE isn’t that much different in Northern climates…except during summer when you leave it parked. Car color is a factor with white/black being extremes. I had no Acoustic on a white car and couldn’t tell much difference with Acoustic on a red one. Actually a Pano roof might benefit from tinting more than the windows/windshield.

I honestly don't think it needs it. I have an all black interior and have let the car sit in the sun for hours, the interior was nowhere nearly as hot as I expected. The only preventative measure I took was closing the shade on the sunroof. Ron.s stated the exterior color is a factor and I agree with that.

Presently 19 S560 SEDAN, 2014 XK, SOLD GLE 450e
I had acoustic glass on two CL550's, one S560 coupe and have one S60 sedan and all are quiet as can be. I don't care two figs about heat resitance and I live in Central Texas. I shopped around for a GLE and found most did not have Acoustic glass nor Drivers Assistance Distronic package.

So no buy for them and the one that did have the acoustic package and Assistance Distronic package, had those sorry butt 22" wheels and AMG blackout package. Both make a vaccum machine sound imho. Different strokes for different folk. I buy a car for traveling across the states not for sittiing in my driveway with tires/wheels filliing up some space in the wheel well. Just venting, pay no attention. I'll go hide now.
