Left Side of Electronic Dash

On our second 450 - first was a 2020, now just took delivery of the 2024. On the 2020 you could customize the display on the extreme left of the electronic dash in classic mode. It seems in the 2024 the analog speedometer is "set in stone." Can't change it. I liked seeing the milage and average MPG display I had set on the 2020. I asked the dealer and they said the analog speedometer cannot be changed to another display in classic mode. What a waste of electronic real estate. We already have the digital display of speed so why be stuck with the analog speedometer? Car has been great so far, so this is a nit picky complaint no doubt.

You are correct, the MBUX 2.0 has less customization options than MBUX 1.0, if I recalled correctly, MB said that customers were complaining about too many menus so they "decluttered" it and now "simplified" it.

Totally agree ! I had a 2024GLE53 on order and I was super disappointed to see the loss of customization options in the new MBUX system. I loved the old yellow sport option, that was deleted along with the many customization options. This made my decision to get a 2023 GLE63 much easier as it still had the old MBUX1 system that I loved. I lost the built in wireless car-play/android auto but that's easily fixed with an external adapter. I also prefer the lights on the older model, not a huge fan of the new headlights.

Ya get what you like the most, sometimes changes aren't for the better, they change things for the sake of changing. They need to understand if aint broken don't fix it but they argue customer wants less options... uh. That said however, I do hear some, I guess the miniority to not prefer the new one over the old one so all personal preference for sure.

Some of the commenters here were totally baffled by MBUX1. Worse, when people tried to help them, they attacked every poster on thread. Got pretty vicious on the forum for a while because of their embarrassment.

I didn't have trouble decoding the original one and prefer it.
As with everything, we continue to lower the bar - Not the direction I would like to see.

But if simplifying MBUX makes this forum more livable, I'm all for it!

I wasn't willing to part with my dear sport cluster showing my tire pressure, tire temp, engine oil and transmission temps etc. I can see how some would find this mesmerizing but I just love the tech! The classic is so BOOOOORING.

People did praise MBUX 2.0 more, they said it is more smooth, but when it comes to customizations, it is a one step forward two step back type of thing.

And the new Navi takes some getting use to but with recent updates seems to get better. Fingers crossed
