Home charging program not auto selecting

Have a new 2024 GLE 450e plug-in hybrid. The car does not auto shift to the charging Home program when I arrive home although location selection is enabled. I have to select home on my Mercedes Me app. I set up my 2023 EQE home charging program in MBUX the same way and this car auto selects Home program for charging when I arrive home

Any suggestions why charging program is not auto selecting? Have selected location option on charging prgram in both the car MBUX (under hybrid charging ) and also location option in the Mercedes Me app

A big deal as Home program changes max charging to 80% which is recommended for battery safety and battery life if you charge at home vice on the road

Love the GLE hybrid. Getting 50miles on the battery around home (wife’s car). Like the coil spring ride over the air shocks of the old GLE. No gas mileage known since have yet to use any gas in the week I have owned the car!

Not recognizing home and defaulting to standard charge

Did you solve this issue. I am having same issue where it is always defaulting to standard charge and not recognizing when I am home which has been set to 80%max. It would also be good to set standard charge to default to something that is not 💯

problem still exists - program does not shift to home charging when mbux is at home location although the home charging program option is selected for home location and home gps is set in mbux

Yes, regarding the Home charging "automatic" selection on the 2024 GLE450e, my experience has been that the system does remember the Home GPs location BUT, and here is the weird part, when I am within, maybe, 150 feet from my garage/wall box a pop-up briefly appears on the display asking me to "tap here to activate the Home charging program." I'm new tooth Forum but I will try to attach a screen shot of the display. Now this message only appears for, maybe, 3-4 seconds after which it disappears and if you do not happen to see it and tap the car will automatically revert to the Standard charging profile. Like you, I was frustrated by this charging location issue for months before my attentive wife noticed it and solved the problem. One would think that MB engineers could have designed the software such that once we select the Home location the car would remember this without the need to reselect "Tap here..." each time we drive the car.

BTW, I have my home program set to 90%.

same problem

I have the same exact problem. I made sure to set-up the home address properly and my surround view system auto turn on every time I'm on my driveway with a brief pop up message asking to select home charging profile instead of auto selecting it! how smart is this MB!

I don’t know why it doesn’t auto-select. I sure wish it would!! But, it appears the home program setting only causes the prompt in the MBUX display. (Which does work for me)

To all of the 2024 GLE450e owners, I'm not sure if this year and model is the only MB series affected but the programming of the GLE450e seems to have been an afterthought and I suggest that we all contact MBUSA (or for my friends in Europe MBAG) Customer Service and raise their awareness of the clearly consistent and reproducible inability of our cars to "remember" the GPS location of our home charging station without us having to re-enter it each time we leave the home location. In addition, when I do manually select my Home charging program when within few hundred feet of the Home Charger, if I happen to switch-off the car afterward while in the driveway I must re-select the Home charging location again. Is this a big deal? Maybe not. But for me, it proves that there is at least one programming issue that needs to be fixed ASAP and that this problem may be affecting other programs within the GLE450e "brain" of which we are not yet aware.

Here is the link to MB customer service where you can enter information and hopefully get a response:

https://group.mercedes-benz.com/contact

Apologies - all of my text suddenly disappeared so I'm re-typing.

I suggest sending documentary photos as I did I'm my original post. For MBUSA the Customer Service phone number is: 800-367-6372. For MBAG (Germany) the number "appears" to be +49-7117-0 but you can confirm this once you have made e-mail contact through the above link. We all want Mercedes-Benz to be the best cars available - that's why we all purchased a GLE450e. Let's all share our experience with MB Customer Service on this Charging Station problem.

I submitted feedback via the link you provided.

Just an FYI - I called MBUSA Concierge about this when we first got the car and they were pleasant, but of no assistance. Basically, it was a "if it's wrong, they will fix it in an update, but if it's by design, they won't"

I can see some engineer overthinking the idea that there could POSSIBLY be two chargers you would use within your geo-fence, and you might want to be on the standard program for one and home for the other. That is an unlikely, but possible scenario, I suppose. I would argue that it should be on the driver of the vehicle to pick something other than HOME at HOME, rather than the other way around as it is now.

I would suggest emailing your concern here as well which is from the app support and feedback. Perhaps it'll reach the software development team more directly this way.

Yes, I just id the same and will call the MB concierge on Monday. They will offer a "fix as soon as it's available" is the usual response such as with the brake recall issue that took months to comply - but admittedly that was a more critical problem. Have you noticed that MB corporate always tries to steer us back to our unfortunate local dealer for a solution? If we can just get tooth right person within MB it seems lime this should be such a simple fix, to link the "Home" charger location with the previously set "Home" charger GPS location. If we don't get a satisfactory response we can consider contacting Ola Kallenius, CEO of MB-AG or Dimitris Psillakis, CEO of MBUSA.

I just sent a message to "customer-advocacy.usa@cac.mercedes-benz.com" about the Home programming issue. We'll see what transpires. Sorry that I did go overboard re: Mr. Kallenius and Mr. Psillakis. Long story...

As an aside, I wanted to let you all know about an additional, and extremely weird, situation that occurred a couple of months ago while driving. My wife and I were having a conversation and suddenly the car said (closely paraphrasing) “Don’t worry, you are safe because you are driving a Mercedes.” We didn’t say “Hey Mercedes” nor was there the typical initial audible announcement “How can I help?”There was just this regular Mercedes voice assuring us that we were ok. This makes us concerned that the car's microphone may be activated at times other than when we ask for the system to respond and that, perhaps, our conversations are being monitored without our knowledge or consent. In any case it was very weird, almost as if AI was somehow involved. I asked for a formal response from MB addressing how and why this incident occurred.

Well, the mics are active 100% of the time when the assistant is on, that's how it listens to "Hey Mercedes", same way as "Hey Google", "Hey Siri", etc. Then, there is a mode in the setting, something about direct commands, it's when it adds extra commands that don't require you to say "Hey Mercedes", it's a limited list though.

We are having the same issue...2024 GLE-450e. We actually got it to prompt a couple of times but never again. I even set the Work program to the same location and it never prompted. I removed the Home and Work and set up Home again, got 1 prompt, no more. I've contacted Mercedes via the app, the email address, called them on the 800#, and as others have said...friendly people that offer no help. I've sent screen shots, videos, etc. No response.
Alternatively, it would be nice to be able to set the Standard program to 80% and call it a day. But Standard always goes to 100%. I set it to 80%, next time it's back to 100%.

If Mercedes insist on a prompt to verify the home program, the obvious solution would be for the prompt box to show up when the car is put in park, and not while you are driving and focused on navigating a residential street or driveway. I miss tapping on it all the time and have to remember to change it on my phone app after the fact. In reality it should be fully automatic,

Agree! At least you get a prompt. I don’t.

We've had our 2025 MBZ GLE450e for over a month now. No matter what I've tried (even with the help of the dealership and the Mercedes Connect service), I can't get the default charge to stay at 80%. It will do it, that night only (in Standard, Home, Work, and/or on the Mercedes app), but always resets to 100% the next day. In addition, forget having our vehicle recognize "Home" as our location. Just doesn't do it. $-(

After having read this lengthy thread, I'm at least relieved that I'm not the only one . . .

We just purchased a GLC 350e and have the same issue. Hopefully there will be a software update to resolve this problem. In the interim, I have found the easiest thing to do is to change to Home on the app since I receive a notification every time the vehicle is charging.

It’s been like this for over a year. I doubt MB is going to bother with it. We stay in Florida during the winter. I haven’t bothered to do the home thing in Florida, since I miss the prompt most of the time.
