164 vehicles. Here's the text (thanks @TonyF61 )
Mercedes discovered after 18 cars, stopped production and fixed it.
It must not be critical or there'd be a "don't drive" order, or it wouldn't wait until January for letters to go out.
Certainly check the NHTSA site to see if you are affected. I will.
Components:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY
Potential Number of Units Affected: 164
Problem Description:
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2021-2022 GLE350 and GLE450 vehicles. A 12-Volt ground connection
may not be secured properly, resulting in the ground connection overheating.
Consequence:
An overheated ground connection can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy:
Dealers will inspect and secure the 12-Volt ground connection as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to
be mailed February 6, 2024. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
Notes:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY
1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
This happened in '21 also, when a new screw gun supplier fed the wrong data into their gun specs.ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:12V/24V/48V BATTERY
