Ordered a 450e - one bummer
Our dealer is changing an allocation for us after Moonlight comes available April 1st. The only bummer is that the 21" AMG rims currently aren't available on the 450e. Hoping this changes leading up to the build, but I'm assuming it won't or it'll be too late by then. Build is mid-April I believe. Guess the 20" AMG rim will have to do.

It’s not like Mercedes doesn’t know how to make a reliable plug in hybrid. I kept my 2018 550e for five years and put 80,000 miles on it. Of course it had a proper V-6 engine instead of that pitiful, overworked 4 banger.

I saw everything from mismatched interior trim, doors that were disgusting misaligned, to charging ports that melted.
I think in my last 6 months with the brand we had 6 of them returned either by customers who took a tremendous hit to the wallet or lemoned. The issues with the car were rarely consistent but something seemed to plague them all.

In my experience (Technician, Service Manager, GSM in the 80's and consumer who chats with techs), 85% of techs think their brand is trash.
All they see is broken ones.
Only the Brand Zealots will actually own the brand they work on.
True of all brands - look in the Employee parking lot.
I take their comments with a grain of salt.

Point of fact: what COVID did was to hurt small manufacturers, who are (were) the suppliers of all those parts and subassemblies. Finding, replaceing or perfecting supply lines is plaguing all carmakers now.
Vertical integration (where you control everything about the car including the screws) is the only solution, but that's probably impossible unless you start completely fresh, like Tesla.
Everybody else went to "just in time" manufacturing in the '70s.
With the economic disasters we've been facing, it's pretty amazing that they can actually build cars, with the suppliers going under.

I'm not disputing your statement, but are you a tech?

I would put it right at 50% of the GLE450e models that we sold from its introduction came back to the dealership. Some of them had issues that were resolved but more than any other model in my time there, didn't make their way back to the customer.
I have no issues with the brand, I've owned multiple as have family members and I'm sure I will again, but there are absolutely models that I would not ever entertain the headache of owning.

I just got a call from one of my customers who purchased their GLE450e back in December. I'm no longer with Mercedes so I didn't delve too far into the issue but his car is already having a no-start problem.

I've had mine for 6 months and 7500 miles. The tthree minor issues: intermitent wiper sensor not properly connected. Fix time: 1 afternoon at dealer. Side bolsters on both front seats stopped working. Replaced: 1 week for parts. Third: liftgate rubber seal came unglued. Fix time: 1 afternoon at dealer. NOT exactly disasters and none of the failures prevented use of car. I am extremely happy with this vehicle, though I wish it had come with running boards: it's reall high off the ground.
