Blind Spot Monitoring Question

Two questions:

1. Does the V167 (2021 GLE) Blind Spot Assist triangle on the side mirrors only show red, or does it ever show yellow/amber?

Vehicle was rear ended and after repair the blind spot warning only shows red when a vehicle is detected. I could have sworn it used to also show yellow, but could be mistaken. Can anyone confirm?

2. The blind spot icon on the center dash (little car symbol with green radar signs from the side mirrors) always shows green and only shows grey when the car is at a complete stop. Is this normal behavior?

Should the green “waves” turn grey when a car is detected in the zone?

1. It's only one color - red.
2. There is a blind spot icon on the center dash? Maybe a picture could help. In general, on these cars - green is on/detected etc, grey is off/inactive/not detected, so no, something that's grey likely won't indicate any kind of danger or detected cars.

Thanks for the reply. An icon is available depending on which screen is chosen to be displayed in the center dash (or also right dash). It looks like the one shown in this thread here:

Intuitively you’re right in that grey seems like an odd color to show an object in the zone, but the manual states grey is “activated” and green is “active”

Thank you for the link. I get it now, never seen this icon before. The language is just bad - "activated / active" makes little sense. I pulled MY2024 manual and it's a bit more clear on the meaning, which is in line with what we discussed above. Basically, grey is "activated but inoperative". Meaning, the system is on but doing nothing, likely because the car is parked or moving slower than 8mph. green is "activated and operational", I read it as system is on and the vehicle is moving faster than 8mph. Then, if a vehicle is detected in a blindspot, mirror will show that red triangle.

See the attachment.
