2024 GLE MBUX Hey Mercedes not turning on rear seat heaters.

I just got a 2024 gle 350 and have been playing around learning all the stuff that the car can do when you ask it.

When I ask it "hey Mercedes, turn on/off the front seat heating" it works. It turns them on/off when asked. However, if I ask it to turn on/off the rear seat heating" it tells me it's turning them on/off but they don't actually turn them on/off. The rear seat heaters work fine when I manually turn them on/off using the buttons, so it just seems that asking the car by voice to turn them on/off just doesn't work.

I'm thinking it's just a software glitch, but I'm wondering if t could mean something else is wrong.

Anyone have any thoughts on why this would be happening?

I've been able to get MBUX to do this by referring to the "left rear" or "right rear" heated seat. I have not tried to turn them both on with the same verbal command.

Same. I wish the implementation of chat gpt made it smarter with controlling the system. Oftentimes I want to turn on both driver and passenger seat massage, it would be convenient to do both with a single command. Instead the chat gpt is there for potato salad recipes while you're driving.

Are you using the ChatGPT Beta through Mercedes me?
I was an early adopter, and the system was absolutely awful.
Then I switched back to the Nvidia MBUX and it had forgotten oll the conversational adaptations MBUX had learned, so it had to re-learn my dialogue.

I had hoped the ChatGPT on Mercedes me would have learned enough in its time on Beta, to be useful. Maybe there weren't enough users to train it on MB stuff.

I think MBUX doesn't use any data sources other than you and your commands, where ChatGPT uses a wider universe of Mercedes me users.

I said that and it told me it was switching it on but it did not. Its so odd because they do work when manually turning them on with the button. Edit: I'm not using the ChatGPT Beta.

Hello, I purchased a new 24 GLE 580 about a week ago and noticed tonight it does the exact thing you mentioned! Also noticed a few other glitches with the volume buttons etc . Did you ever figure out what was causing this on your GLE?

Heh

Nope! I had even mentioned it when I brought it in for servicing. They told me they tested multiple 2024's on their lot and none of them did it. I recently traded in the 350 for a 2024 450 and it doesn't do it either. It says it's turning them on/off but never does anything. It works fine for the front ones though.

I'm guessing the system can't do it, and it saying it's doing it, is the glitch. It really should say something like "I'm sorry, I can't do that" or something similar instead of confirming it's turning them on/off.

I assume you also tried specifying something like rear driver (or left) side?

Yes. It doesn't work. It even confirms it and says "I'm switching on the right rear seat heating" and it doesn't actually turn on. If they are on and you ask it to turn it off, it says "I'm switching off the right rear seat heating" but it doesn't actually turn it off. It didn't work in my 350, doesn't work on my 450 and the service manager at the dealership said he checked a number of 2024's they had in the lot and they didn't do it on them either.

So, if it did work in MBUX 1, perhaps it's a bug or something they removed in the facelifts with MBUX 2/2.4.

I've never tried that command. I'll have to test my MY20 to see if it works.

It's not something I would ever need to use because my passengers can just press the button, but it just seemed odd to me that it would respond it was doing it, but wouldn't actually do it. Usually, if you ask it to do something it can't do, it just says "I don't understand" or something similar to that. I kind of just accepted it when the service manager told me he tested a few. Then it was something I tested when I got my 450 and had the same result.

Got it.. Glad to know we’re not alone! Good luck with your new 450! What color?

I went with black for this 580, getting it ceramic coated next week.
