Good Day,
I recently bought an import in Dubai, the system and Navigation state Canada:

I recently bought an import in Dubai, the system and Navigation state Canada:
- My Mercedes me app dissapeared after doing reset
- I had sos inoperative ( I took it back to the dealership I bought it from , they reset all the errors but mbux system still doesn't have Mercedes me and navigation not working
- Can I upload UAE system on my own ?
- can I download Mercedes me app on my own ?

get the dealership you bought it from to do it for you. Is Mercedes me active in your car. It has to be activated to get OTA updates for the MBUX. At least that is what I've been told.

So I'm trying to gather as much info as I can . Also I didn't buy it at a mercedez dealership

Sorry but only a dealer can fix it. The communication module needs to be set for UAE. You could contact a programmer here to see if they have other solutions: RJ Automotive, Elebest, and BenzNinja

ah okay, is there not a Mercedez dealership in Dubai? that would be your best bet to get them to do it for you. yes I just looked, 3 dealerships in Dubai.

So I went to the Dubai Mercedes Delarship.
is there no way around this ? can i not upload the navigation on my own ?
So I went to the Dubai Mercedes Delarship.
- They inserted my Vin into their system and picked up that it was an Import from Canada.
- So they said that even if they upload the missing "Mercedes me app" the subscription wont work as only GCC cars can use Mercedes me app in UAE. She also stated that i don't really need mercedes me .. What do you think guys don't i need it??

It's been discussed a few times regarding imports into the UAE etc. You can't activate the Mercedes me services on a car that was imported. The Mercedes backend will see the VIN and determine that the car is Canadian, so the services can only be activated in North America. They don't roam across continents. Mercedes me only roams in the original region where it was sold. EU cars roam in Europe, NA cars roam in North America and Asian cars roam in Asia. The programmers you contacted should be able to get your navigation going as Mercedes supports installing maps from a different region, but you won't have live traffic, OTA map updates etc. as that requires the Mercedes me service.
FWIW, I went through this myself as I took delivery of my US spec AMG in Germany and drove it around Europe for a couple months. I had working maps as MB loaded the EU maps, but no live traffic etc. Once the car arrived in the US, they loaded the NA maps and I was able to activate the Mercedes me services. I pretty much just used Apple CarPlay and Google Maps while I was in Europe, but it was good to have the EU maps as that meant all the driver assistance features, including traffic sign recognition were working correctly.

If you make a friend in Dubai with the same vehicle but has access to Mercedes Me, I believe they can download the latest maps via a laptop to a thumb drive for to upload in your own vehicle. Some users like myself don't want to wait for the very slow OTA map updates so we'll just use a thumb drive to download and install map updates; we'll also do this to install other map regions in our home market. The map files can be pretty big, several GBs.

The map updates are locked to the VIN. This has been tried before. As far as tethering is concerned, not much works with that w/o activating the backend services. Basically the web browser works, that's about it. I had a loaner that I connected to my home's Wi-Fi and tethered to my phone, but as said it's largely useless w/o the services being active. I was hoping to coax a firmware update, because MBUX was very buggy, but w/o the Mercedes me services being active there's no dice.
