Running Boards Removal

I'm looking at a car that meets all my specs except it has running boards. Not sure I will like these. If I don't, can these be removed without any issues?

I had this discussion years ago with my dealer and if I recall correctly, they can be removed but you will need additional trim pieces to replace the area where the running boards are installed. They recommended that I find someone who wants the running boards and arrange a swap to avoid purchasing the extra trim pieces.

Your thought is correct. You will not like the running boards. They are not especially functional (too narrow, too slippery in the rain) and they make it harder to plant your feet on solid ground (increased angle, board rubs against calf and achilles) as you try to get out.

These aren't super functional average or tall people, I agree. They do look nice and I'm actually surprised how not slippery these are when you step on an area with the black inserts. Having that said, when your seat is raised high and you're on the shorter side, they may help getting in and out.

If you have young kids, they are helpful. They are also helpful on those very rare occasions where you have to step over a puddle on the ground or that dirty snow slush when parallel parked. Other than that, I only like them for looks.

My wife is 5'2" and insisted I get the running boards. I find them to be inoffensive. I try to lower the car with the air suspension when she wants to get in or out of the vehicle and she doesn't use them that much.

Do you use the "Lower" option from the function menu for it?
