Mobile flex charger for GLE 450e
Hey all,
New here! We just got a new GLE 450e, so a plug in hybrid. The salesman pointed to the included mobile flex charger and said not to use it except for emergencies as it’s super slow. I always thought that was an odd comment since I couldn’t imagine what charging ‘emergency’ one would encounter with a plug in hybrid. I get that it’s a level 1 charger and a level 2 is faster. But since I’ve been procrastinating getting the level 2 charger installed, is there a reason I SHOULDN'T use the mobile flex charger in the meantime? Even if I plug it in overnight, that should still get me at least 40% (according go the Mercedes Me app), figuring a 12ish hour charge.
thanks!

It's the only charger I've used at home since getting the car, no problems at all. It only does 1.8 kW, so it's a bit slow, but that fine for overnight charging as you say. Better for the battery too.

I had a similar one that came with my GLE550e. I used it all of the time. It was slow, but it worked fine. Don't forget to check with your state regarding tax rebates when you install a level 2 charger. Some states cover part of the cost.
