I kept getting notifications in my car. You can also check the app. In the car it’s under Settings and then software update.

Lol more reasons to not update my car or lose ILS menu.

Interested in knowing how well MB implemented OTA. BMW OTA on our '19 X5 has been nothing but completely useless. If ambient temperature is too hot/too cold, if car is not precisely level, if battery is not brand new, if if if... updates simply don't install after download. SA acknowledged the finickyness.

Hard to say. The OTA updates aren't that numerous and are vague on what they fix, but probably mostly bug fixes. Though the latest one on my E63s added automatic loop recording. Map updates update automatically only for one chosen home region, the rest can still be done manually, not hard but a little tedious.
