2024 GLE 580
GLE580 ECO ?

Coming from 3 GLE450's where when I would stop the engine would shut off and start again when driving....Sometimes I could power the vehicle for a decent period of time with engine off. My new 580 rarely shuts off when stopping and if it does it's for like 5 seconds. Is this normal in the 580? Why would it be different then the 450?

This does not occur on my 580. The motor can be off for many minutes before the Auto Start Stop turns the motor on again to recharge the battery. I've never timed it but I've certainly kept the car on while parked somewhere either playing with settings or taking a phone call, and the motor will stay off for many minutes before having to turn on again--this is with climate control on auto, radio on etc.

Do what we all should do - get the feature disabled all together. It is not good for your battery, starter, engine and on and on and on...many option so stop that stupid system all together. In all four of my cars...the order is...get in, push start button, push Eco button (on the one that it is not hard coded off)...put car into S+ mode....buckle seat belt and drive.....

Yes. However, it doesn't ever go to OFF period anymore. Even on hour drive where it should be charged up. My 450's would turn off with AC...Right now I'm not getting any off time. I was getting about 5 seconds when I bought the car a few weeks ago once in awhile.

I actually like it an never have had an issue in my 2020, 2021, and 2023 GLE. I actually have a use case for it that I need not bore you with where I serves a purpose.
