2021 GLE 450
GLE 450 oil consumption
On February 1, during the V167 30K service, the oil level was filled to exactly midway between the low and high marks. After 34,000 miles, I received a message to add one quart of oil, and the oil level is now just below the low mark. This never occurred during the first 30K miles. Is this oil consumption normal, or does it indicate an underlying issue?

Was there consumption before? Or is this the first time?
Best case scenario is the PCV gasket is bad causing excess vacuum and thus consumption.
Worst case scenario is poor piston ring seating which may cause consumption to increase.
I heard these engines are dyno tested before being installed so poor piston ring (install) can perhaps be ruled out.
What is your oil change interval? I suggest 5000 mile.

This is the first time it has happened. I follow Mercedes-Benz oil change recommendations which is 12 months or 10K miles. I always check oil level on a flat surface otherwise it will not be accurate.

I change my own oil and the precision of the gauge is all over the place. The measurement is also a black box the way it takes half and hour to finally come back with a reading. I've also found the same fill reading mid on one day and max on another.
Who's knows how it was filled initially. You could have a mid reading with 8.2 quarts, burn 0.21 quarts and throw a low oil reading.
