That’s what I had thought however it doesn’t seem to work. Sometimes I shut the radio off as soon as it goes on when I initially start the car and don’t put it back on again. When I start the car the next day it goes on.

Do you use carplay or android auto? I only use android auto and my experience is that if I have the music paused, it will stay paused after restart. So maybe just switch the audio source like to BT music or CP/AA instead of radio as one possible solution?

This is standard behavior... I saw it mentioned by Nick O'Leary on his MBZ youtube channel, and I experience it in my 2024 GLE450e. IIRC, Nick's advice was to select AUX as the input before turning off.
Even if I drop the volume down to the silent minimum, when the car is turned on the next time the volume is increased just to the annoying level.
