High diesel consumption at idle

Recently noticed unusual fuel consumption at idle, ranging from 3.2 to 3.5 liters per hour. Initially, I suspected it might be related to DPF regeneration. However, when I activate the auto start/stop feature, the engine shuts off at idle. I read somewhere auto start/stop won't work in DFP burning. Without start/stop, the idle consumption stays at 3.2-3.5 l/h, while it typically averages 1.3-1.5 l/h with the A/C on. It does not happen at cool start. I only see issue after few short tríp.

When I shift to park (P), the consumption decreases to 2.3 l/h, but shifts back to 3.2 l/h when I return to drive (D). I'm also considering the injectors, but typically, injector issues lead to decreased fuel delivery, not increased. Any insights on this?

I noticed that since I used liqui moly dpf cleaner. Will it make dpf burning more often? I still do not know how this additive work.

I found it. It was DPF burning. Connecting to xentry and see the temp is over 500 degree. Also when driving the soot level is going down to 0%. At this point the fuel consumption also going back to normal.
the interesting thing is the car will retry to do the burn until it get 0% even you stop the car overnight etc. Does not matter in freeway or short drive. It will retry as much it completed.

The way to know when dpf is burning is either idle the fuel consumption is higher than 2L/h
and while driving and release accelarate padel the idicator wont go to charge area(red area)

The DPF burn is one thing that really annoys me in my GLE. It happens abound every 500-600 km and almost always at the stupidest moments, when I have a short drive. I don't want to interrupt it so I drive around in cirtclss. I once drove 1000 km home from Italy and then the next day I had to drive a few km to the store and the burn initiated.

Yeah I same to me. I would expect it burned on highway rather than in short trip.
Do not worry about the interrupt it because I tested that
- stopping car during the process and I left it overnight it started straight away when engine starts until 0% soot.
- same as stop the car go to shopping come back and it also start again.

I guess I'm scared by the way it used to work in my 2012 Range Rover Sport. There once a burn initiated it said on the panel that you can only start the car 5 more times if you keep interrupting.

Anyway, I wish there was a way to easily initiate the burn from some settings menu. Then I could run it when I know I have a long trip ahead of me.

Is your car also so loud when the burn starts? I guess not, since you weren't sure if it was the burn. I have no doubts, because it's super loud. I have the factory tow hitch which comes with extra engine cooling, so maybe that's the reason. When the DPF burn starts and also for a few minutes after I turn off the engine if I interrupt it, it's like a jet plane taking off.

I did not notice anything even burning smell. If you has extra cooling system then it is as expected. Sometime I can hear the fan noise even after engine off and the car was locked. It is also normal because it is cooling the engine.
