Thinking about a 2026 X5

I’m coming from 20 years BMW and now ordered my first Mercedes. My current BMW is the 2020 X5 45e. Had a lot of bugs with it the first year. Test drove the newer X5 50e but didn’t like the all touchscreen interface. Engine is nice, lots of power in full electric, but the legroom in the back is not much. Can’t order the sport exhaust and had to accept certain options I really don’t like (m striping in seat belts and iconic glow grill). I’ve also checked out the Porsche Cayenne, but it felt slow compared to the GLE 53. Legroom in the back is even worse at Porsche. Good luck with your choice!

BMW is going backwards in terms of luxury.
The new X3 has black plastic everywhere.
Apart from the seats, its no more luxurious than a 1990s Honda.

My 2023 BMW M2 has a button to turn of auto stop/start but find no reason to do so, even without electric assist - not intrusive at all.

The armrest, stalks, door handles and switches are still black plastic on the 2025 BMW X3.
BMW squeezing out some extra profits even though they are enormously profitable already.

I have mixed feelings with the fabric type dashboard they kind of took that from a mazda or something. I think they should had at least stick with faux leather the very least but I guess good to have options... I guess?

Yeah my 20 year old Honda has fabric accents in the interior.
So apart from the seats, my base level Honda has more luxury than a base level BMW X3.

I suspect BMW is going to cloth seats.
That would be the complete transformation to a 2005 Honda, which they are attempting with the new X3.
