Inspect your TireFit kits & check trunk flap screws.

Over the weekend I was tidying up and giving the car a quick once over. Tirefit kit (50k miles old, 2020 GLE580) in the little storage compartment had leaked almost its entire contents into the little plastic housing it's stored in. Not a huge deal, but it leaked out of its plastic bag and was a pain to clean out. So just a heads up to everyone that has it equipped, go inspect it, and bring an extra bag with you, double bag it and save yourself cleanup headaches if it does break and leak in the future. I didnt replace it, I keep a plug kit, a 12v compressor, and for worst case scenarios a can of fix-a-flat in lieu of the tirefit.

Also, 3 out of the 4 screws that hold the little flap (stock picture below) had unscrewed themselves and fallen in the storage it covers, the fourth screw was loose down to a thread or two. Check those as well, bring your allen keys, and a half drop of blue loctite for each. Not sure if the same applies to the cover for non-third row folks but give it a check anyway

Thanks for the heads-up. I think the juice ages out as well. My BMW kit had an 18 month expiration date, I think.
I keep a DynaPlug kit and ViAir 12v compressor in the car already. Those tires are really heavy, and my first choice would be to repair on the car, if possible.

Edit: thanks for the "check your screws" recommendation.
I just went out and checked both my cars and the screws are not snug. It also looks like it would be far too easy to overtighten them. Off to find my tiny Torx drivers....

Today I learned that the spare doesn't require hanger bolts. I have some, and I thought they were in the trunk but I couldn't find them. Had to throw on the spare tire because I accidentally slashed my sidewall while turning my wheels into a sign's metal base that hit my tire at the perfect point and slashed it. It was probably karma as I was parked illegally just to grab my takeout order.
