2025 GLE450e Augmented Navigation

I recently purchased a 2025 GLE 450e. It has the exclusive and drivers assist package. I also see the camera housing under the rear mirror. However, I have not been able to located the option of turning on the Augmented Navigation in the navigation menu.

I don’t know if there is a camera in the housing
since I read somewhere that certain MY25 did not come with this feature due to supply chain issues. So at this point I don’t know think I have this even though the camera housing is there. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is it possible to add the camera?

On MY22, Augmented Reality was an option. Did you pay for this option?

The camera(s) are visible if you look closely. On my '20, which is hard to see from this angle, t have the one on left of the photo which provides Augmented Video for Navigation, but I am missing the other one because I did not get the DA package. There is a clear difference between a lens and a blank off. The feature is usually part of a package, e.g. Technology or Pinnacle Trim.

You are correct. Several models did not come with augmented navigation or have available the option for the dash-cam due to supply chain issues. You can tell by looking at your build sheet or looking at the camera housing from outside the vehicle on the windshield below the rear view mirror. There’s a place for the camera lens that just has a plug over it. It’s my understanding it has been added back for MY26.

Thanks..it looks like that’s the case on my end. Is it possible to add it? I have the housing but there is no camera in there..

While it’s possible to retrofit, it’s not as simple as buying the camera. Mercedes put in a lower grade MBUX head unit. Therefore, the MBUX must be replaced with the higher grade one along with the camera and coding. If you are a DIY, you can check out RJAutomotive.net which provides the MBUX unit and camera, and they’ll provide remote coding after you install it. Another place is Benznija.com. If you want to go to Toronto, there’s MB House www.mbhouse.ca that actually installs customizations. All of these places have been used on here successfully.

Have you tried this?
In mbux, select home, navagation, settings, view, augmented reality view. Activate setting.

of course this assumes you have the option. I was offered one model with it deleted and turned it down

good luck!

I have the augmented reality. To be honest, I don't find it all that useful. If you don't have a HUD, the augmented reality picture covers your map display when you need it the most.

I appreciate your comment. I enjoy the novelty of it and keep the navigation up in the center of the drivers display.

Best regards

I agree. It makes complex intersections difficult.
I find the information as you approach a turn more useful without AR.
Passengers seem to like the novelty.

The HUD in my 21 GLE63 is not the same at all as the HUD in my 22 S580. The AR with HUD is awesome IMO in the S580. In the GLE not so much. I do not know if they changed the HUD in the newer models though

How does the HUD affect the AR? Or should I be asking how the AR affects the HUD?

In the S580 everything in my HUD for the AR is like 3D with the everything other than the speed. The turns and arrows and the spots following under the rest of the traffic ahead. Not sure if all S580's are the same either. I have 3D & technology options in it. They are not even options in my year GLE. The lower dash on the GLE screen goes from the map to active camera with arrows and I am not sure anything is really different in the HUD to be honest. If the newer GLE's HUD are similar to my S580 HUD I would certainly want to have it. It is difficult to describe. The HUD for MBUX nav in the GLE is different than the Android Auto HUD nav display. You lose AR when using Android Auto in the HUD on my GLE. I apologize for the response as I don't think it clearly answers your question.
