New forum member and have searched a bit -- I recently ordered 2026 GLE450 with the 21" AMG multi-spoke wheels.
While I love the look of a staggered setup, I am interested in a square setup for better long term tire wear and more 21" all-season tire options on all four corners.
I am thinking of purchasing two 21x10J ET 54 multi-spoke wheels (to match the front) to put on the rear and removing the 21x11J ET49 from the factory.
If I go with the 21x10J for the rear, is it best to purchase spacers (size?) for the rear to keep a similar look?

The way I look at it, the narrower front rims on the rear will put the face 17mm inboard of the stock rears (5mm offset + 12mm width diff), and the tires are 30 mm narrower so that adds another15mm. So, to keep the tire face same relationship to the fender as stock you would need 32mm spacers, which is way too much IMO. You could go with OEM RZV 20" wheels, or I know a source for forged monoblocks to your custom specs for probably under $4k. Anyone see a fault in this logic?

Regarding spacers, I fully agree.
I don't like spacers, but if they're necessary they need to be as thin as possible. And checked regularly because of corrosion and debris potential.
Not to mention the difficulty in balancing one more object with a heavy tire, if you do it yourself.

I'm running out of time here, because my remaining tread is below Colorado's new "Traction law" (replacing their chain law) just took effect.
I have 21" staggered Conti All Seasons. 7/32"F, 5/32"R compared to Colorado's 6/32.
I'm glad I don't have a 22-in Summers!

Thanks for the thoughts on different setups, I agree, that much of a spacer would cause all kinds of wear on the rear and likely be unsafe.
I really like the multi-spoke AMG-style wheel, but don't care if the options are 20" or 21".
In the end, I would just like to get a 275/45/21 or 275/50/20 tire size on all four corners and be able to put Michelin CC2 or Goodyear WR2, Nokian WRG5, etc.

Many of us get a second set of wheels and run the 21s Spring-Fall then switch to say 20's with Winters.

Go with a second set of 20's and run a square set-up, more options and less pricey w/ the 20s for winter.

With a 275/50/20 tire, based upon the 'will these fit' site, seems like a decent idea for a winter setup?

OP, for reference an OEM set of 20s front offset is et57 and rear et44 (oem wheel part numbers if helpful: 1674013200 / 1674013300)

Mercedes has made our life difficult by using different offsets front and rear. Their OEM square 20" setup uses 9" wheels with either +55.5 or 57mm front offset, and either +42 or 44 rear. going with 1/2" wider wheels would reduce those numbers by 6mm for comparable stance. So, you're proposed wheels are et43 compared to say 62 and 49. I think the rears would be fine protruding 1/4" more, but the fronts at 3/4" might be a little much, though you could use 12mm spacers in the rear to even out the looks. If you're getting aftermarket wheels you will likely need new lug bolts because of the bevel vs. radius seat shape. Also, not all aftermarket wheel will accept the OEM bolts 15.4mm bulge.

By far the easiest and safest rout is to get a set of OEM takeoffs, of which there should be a good selection. I know just enough to be dangerous, so feel free to ignore my advice.

Yes, they are aftermarket, I just really like the AMG-style multi-spoke wheel.
