CPO 2022 GLE 450
I just bought a 2022 GLE 450 CPO on Nov 28th. I'm interested in the 2 year extended warranty, but my dealership quoted me $5551 with tax which I felt was pretty high, so I turned it down. Does anyone have advise for finding a better rate on this or any specific dealerships that are known to have the best rate?

Every Certified Pre-Owned Mercedes-Benz is backed by the 4-year/80,000-kilometre New Vehicle Warranty. Once that expires, the Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty goes into effect, providing an additional 24 months of coverage, up to 120,000 accumulated kilometres. To help you buy and drive with total confidence, the Mercedes-Benz Certified Warranty can be upgraded to an Extended Limited Warranty at any time during the New Vehicle Warranty period, as long as the vehicle has been maintained regularly by an authorized Mercedes-Benz Retailer.

Based on statistics and dealership knowledge, the chances of requiring a repair that makes it worth it is very low. Do you think dealerships would offer this for your own good? It's rigged like a casino. Otherwise they would be out of business. Check out google about this.
Based on my personal experience, I have owned two new European cars well past their warranty and if I bought extended warranties I would have wasted the money.

I am also against these. This is the first time I've ever bought one and I did it just because of me being new to Mercedes, hearing how much more expensive parts are and not knowing how much DIY repairs I'd be able to do, So, decided to go for it... is more so I could sleep better. The one I got is also through Mercedes.
To me, third party extended warranties are definitely not worth it, they only cover certain parts and fall short on covering electronics. Most of them also won't approve OEM parts.
Bottom line, its great having it if you ever need it and a total waste of money if you don't. Do whatever helps you sleep better.

I have a different take on the extended warranty.
Two features that I strongly consider are that if I sell the vehicle in a private transaction the warranty is transferable, and I believe it will help sell the vehicle. Also, if the vehicle is traded or totaled, you can get a prorated refund.
In 2019 when I purchased a 2015 S550 in a private transaction, being my first serious MB, I bought an 8 yr/80,000 mi Fidelity Platinum warranty (an exclusionary warranty) for $4,000. I had two claims that paid $1,800, processed by the dealer. When I traded the vehicle and cancelled the warranty, I received a refund of $2,200. I broke even but had peace of mind.
In 2022 when I bought my CPO 2020 GLS450 I paid $2,900 for an extra two years of coverage (dealer first asked $4,400). While I have not had any claims so far (coverage thru 2/27), I have peace of mind should I have issues with E-ABC, Burmester high end 3D system, Distronic, Massage seats, etc.
Note that pricing is negotiable and everyone needs to make the decision re cost/benefit. I would not have paid $4,400 for two years of coverage on my GLS, but I was willing to pay $2,900 for another two years of unlimited mileage.

Extended limited warranties and CPOs are from the Factory. Non-factory coverage is from Insurance companies as insurance policies, often called Breakdown Insurance.
The difference is whether they are "Exclusionary" or "Inclusionary."
Exclusionary policies are generally more complete because only the things excluded are not covered.
"Inclusionary" is a list of things that are covered, and if they are not listed they are not covered. The longer the list, the more expensive the policy.
The most expensive choice is "exclusionary."
CPOs are "Inclusionary."
In my case, I bought the Fidelity Platinum breakdown insurance, which is exclusionary (their cheaper plans are inclusionary).
My service department said they are able to cover more things with the Fidelity Platinum than with the CPO.
In either case, it's value to you or me, is how comfortable I am with being exposed to potentially expensive repairs. Just like health or any other kind of insurance. You are hiring somebody to share your risk.
By the way, my local dealer had the cheapest prices after shopping around. Well, $12 more for 48 month coverage.

Fidelity just paid for my recent warranty work: trunk strut, suspension strut, and driver assistance issues. The cost of the work just covered the entire payment of the warranty in one swoop and I have 6 years left on my Fidelity Platinum coverage. The work was completed by my preferred dealer.

As noted in another thread, just purchased my GLE and negotiated the warranty with the dealer; thanks to this forum I knew what was possible, and even though Jeff Jackson is gone, I described the price that was possible and got it for their cost plus $200.

After reaching out to numerous dealerships I was able to get the 2-year extended CPO out the door around 3500. Thank you all for the insights and information, very helpful!

I'm also unsure if we would even drive the car enough to need the extra 2 years of warranty. It'll be the family car that we take on weekends. My wife (works from home now) and I still have our daily drivers. The GLE will be driven 1-3 days out of the week to take our kids (age 4 and 5) to gymnastics or run errands on the weekend. I drove the car off their lot 7 weeks ago today and have only put 700 miles on the car.
And then considering how long we might keep the car - that's an unknown as well. We don't change cars often, but then again we are a younger family. We may find ourselves upgrading more often in our later years. My wife bought her current car brand new in 2014 and I have been driving my 1998 Lexus GS400 since 2008.

Which dealership? I have a CPO 2024 GLE450 and my dealership wanted 1 year/unlimited miles for $4260 and 2 years/unlimited miles for $5220. I reached out to MB Louisville where Jeff Jackson was and they quoted me 1 year/unlimited miles for $2829 and 2 years/unlimited miles for $4163. This is a flat fee, no sales tax or CC fee.

I'm not even sure that a dealer other than the selling dealer can issue a CPO for a car bought elsewhere.

I'm not sure that's a fair comparison with the dealer who performed the CPO inspection and paid Mercedes for their portion of the CPO. It costs a dealer about $1,200 to inspect and purchase their portion.
I'm not even sure that a dealer other than the selling dealer can issue a CPO for a car bought elsewhere.

Not sure I understand what you are saying. My vehicle is already a CPO vehicle, so it has the extra one year warranty that kicks in after the 4 year factory warranty is up. If I purchase the extended warranty plan, then once CPO warranty expires, then this plan kicks in for another 1-2 years.
I've seen plenty of people mention MB Lousiville and they said that they bought extended plans for their vehicles from them.
