2025 GLE 450 Coupe
I have a 2025 GLE 450 Coupe. Lovely car however I am pretty underwhelmed with the appearance of the steering wheel.
I'd actually prefer a flat bottom wheel with a little larger grip diameter.
Has anyone made a swap?
Did you go with an aftermarket wheel or replacement with an AMG wheel off of a 53 or 63 Coupe?
If you went aftermarket where you happy with the brand you choose? Any regrets? Any "wish I had done this" moments?
I am a little apprehensive to make this change and trust the fit and compatibility of anything aftermarket. However if anyone here has practical real experience I'd welcome feedback?
Thank you

if it does your aftermarket options are limited. As far as I know there are zero aftermarket manufacturers for the touch sensors pad, and the dealership also does not sell it separately. You could still run an aftermarket wheel but you would have to disable the feature from showing up on your dashboard.
if you don’t have that option then a retrofit to a amg wheel is easy peasy. We have done a couple

RJ Automotive (who I used to code my headlights) used to offer different steering wheels and the coding to go with it.
I think Elebest, a sponsor, might also do it.

Check your spec sheet, if your car comes with SA 266, then it means the wheel comes with Hand Hold Sensor in it. So if you plan to change to aftermarket wheel, it will be quite troublesome and less likely fault free.
Other than 266, another thing you need to be careful is the heated wheel, but that won’t cause any fault in clusters, just lose the heating function of wheel.
Go to local dealer show room grip the wheel of a 63 or 53 model, see if you like them. If yes, we have them ready stock.
Mercedes AMG Genuine Brand New Wheel w/wo. heating and/or hand hold sensor. The only bad thing is its unfriendly price.
Thanks.
