Why the wait?

I went and order a GLE400 this afternoon and was told it would be here in late Feb or early March. So why is this true and so many others said they are having to wait many months and even some are being told May that already have theirs ordered before me doing it today? I believe my salesperson but how did he get it done when others cannot?

(And I think I ordered a pretty decently optioned GLE400 too)

Your dealer probably went into an existing dealer inventory order and changed all the specs to your preference. This can be done up to three weeks before build. That's what my dealer did for me.

its based on dealer allocation. look to see if they can do a dealer swap for a earlier build date.

I believe they had the GLE allocated to them and then did a swap to get certain options sooner and then built more of it to get it exactly like I wanted. But if that's the case, why can't other people find a dealership to do that too? I know I would shop dealerships just for that reason and use it in bargaining. It is one of the reasons I picked the dealer I did. They were the cheapest and promised the fastest delivery.

16 GLE400
Between the months is late October 2015-Febuary 2016, not many GLE400 were delivered to dealers. I checked over 15 dealers and very few to choose from. In November our dealer had a Febuary allocation, we took it with our build.
