GLE 350 4MATIC...Premium 1.

Maybe this has already been discussed elsewhere, but this is the first time I am experiencing this - you start engine, lift foot off brake...it wont move. You actually have to push gas. Forward or reverse. Maybe its the 'auto brake' thing. I dont mind it, just curious whether its standard or a defect.

And I am wondering if others have experienced a 'humming' noise that's fairly consistent while driving. If you pay enough attention, it can drive you nuts. Its not the engine revving noise, but, huh, it just likes to hum...

Not that I like to complain. Love all the 'Good' that's already mentioned before.

It is normal. There's a break hold func - so if that is compressed, it'll rest in place. And when you first turn on the vehicle too. It should not happen otherwise - unless user initiated on the road.

I think what you're referring to is the electronic parking brake. It sets itself when you open the driver's door or turn the car off. Hence, when you start it again, put it into drive, it doesn't move because the parking brake is still on. It became 2nd nature for me to release the brake after starting but before selecting a gear. It will also release when pressing the gas pedal as you mentioned. The previous ML's didn't set the brake on their own. My guess is that it has something to do with the remote start, as a safety feature perhaps.

Thank you. Thats reassuring. It was a new experience, and now I understand the rationale.

One feature that I loved in my 2011 E550 (traded) is about how you can hit, for e.g. the MEDIA button repeatedly to flip through all available media sources. It was quick and easy. Not anymore. Now you have to scroll the finger or dial and hit enter. Again, this is obviously going going with new tech, but I have found myself hitting MEDIA button frequently but I am sure I will get used to this. No complains. Just old habits.

Voice command has improved almost to perfection!! Yay.

CarPlay is nice welcome feature, but have to hook up phone. And when CarPlay is on, I understand you cant use any of the MB functions, like Radio, Navigation, etc. Obviously, you have access to Apple Maps and Google Maps, but just making a point. Unless someone knows a way to exit out of CarPlay while phone connected.

GLE has lots of room. Very quiet. Smooth and comfy. When in Sport mode, it lowers one gear instantly, which is such a thrill.

Remote start works like a charm. Connects to car fast (albeit, depending on your network or wifi), and you get text notifications.

Glad you are enjoying West wind. Question - are you sure you can use the Google Maps on Carplay? I thought it was Apple Maps only.

I prefer the benz system overall. But they need to update it so you can use spotify and music apps.

No I have not used Google maps on CarPlay. I just assumed. Maybe not then. And yes, that raises issue about ability to add or customize Apps on the main screen. So far I have only used the Texting feature, and voice commands do a pretty good job replying.

Not to mention, Cellular data use while using those mape, esp during long trips. So, if there is a way to toggle between CarPlay and MB screen, I'd like to know how.

11. When you use apple carplay you lose the ability to use the "quick tabs" feature. I have it programmed to when I'm parking the car I can hit the star, a list of quick tabs come up and I can quickly pick the 360 camera. Nope! Not anymore when you are using carplay.

The 360 camera comes on as soon as u put the car in reverse no need to pull up your short cut tabs.

on the 360 camera, on mine if you press the car button on the command dash control panel and hold it a second or 2 the camera comes on. ron

Thanks. I learned something new. When I get my wife's iPhone back in the car and I'm using carplay, I will try it out. That will be a big help if it works because she really likes to use the cameras when parking and wants them to pop up quickly.

i just tried this on my 450 coupe and it works that's awesome! any more tricks you know of? lol

Have a 1 month old GLE 350d and have had it in twice to the dealer to fix brake noise. From day one, got squealing on almost every stop, sometimes so loud its embarrassing. Dealer says to expect some noise as these are "high performance" brakes. I've owned a GL350 and several ML's previously without a single occurrence of brake noise. Should I be expecting this from a car of the pedigree? Is anyone else experiencing this?

I think that's BS I have an ML never heard anything and I just got my GLE450 about a month ago and the same thing haven't heard anything. Take it back to them

Thanks gee1224. Having heard the same story twice from the same dealer, I'm probably going to have to escalate this higher within MB.

Try a different dealer. Then if not repaired, escalate to corporate. My GLE doesn't make a sound when I brake. I have it 3 months.

My GLE 63s makes absolutely ZERO squeaking noises while brakes are applied at any particular speed. I'm sure my brakes are bigger than yours. Your dealer's not being very helpful to you.

None of my current, or past, MBs had/have ANY break noise unless the pads had worn down. Nor any AMGs I've owned, tested, drove, or rode in. I wouldn't trust that dealer.

were you able to recreate the brake squeal at service? i had squeal under certain instances with my escalade, but service was able to point to the specific reason and it made sense. ambient temp was part of it. all time squeal sounds like a problem. good luck, ron
