Question Stuck on color choice

Hi everyone, been following this forum for a bit but a first time poster here.

In June I'll be trading in my 2013 X5 5.0 for a GLE 450.

I've ordered the GLE about a month ago, which is scheduled to be built the third week in May. Went pretty much loaded except for rear seat climate, rear seat entertainment, B&O and 22" wheels.

My current X5 is Carbon Black, which I love. On the GLE, I've ordered it in Lunar Blue with black interior. I really like blue cars but am on the fence about this one. Every time I see Lunar Blue it looks completely different and have never seen it in person on a GLE coupe.

While I'm still leaning towards the blue, I'm starting to second guess it and have been thinking about switching to either Steel Grey, Obsidian or Red.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Also if anyone has any accurate images of a GLE couple, please share.

Thanks and excited to be a member here!

Started my order with the Steel Grey but had to switch to Obsidian Black. The factory called the dealer and said they could not build the exterior color with the designo interior as the colors would offset too sharply. Had to switch. Not that upset about it because that color was 2nd choice for us.

I too was stuck between the Steel Grey and the Blue for the coupe. I saw a Blue in person and it looked really sharp. I saw the Steel Grey in person, looked really sharp. Saw the irridium silver in person, glad I didn't go with that. Can't go wrong with either SG or LB for the car. I wanted the saddle interior on the blue or black with the steel grey. I don't like the red to be honest with you, it's not a true red- a little too "brickish" for me.

I ordered the Lunar Blue for my new gle 350- I also ordered the ginger beige and espresso leather with burl wood. I really liked this particular combination.
EVERYBODY has a white or black or grey mercedes. I liked the fact that the blue is a little different but still a "classy" looking color.

The Red is stunning in person. I think Red with a night package (or black out your chrome) is bomb. It looks striking in movement. Saw a GLE in manhattan in Red and almost switched my order. I did stick with simple Black. (every car I have owned has been black on black and I want to see if I can go a lifetime with that - not because I love it, but just because). If I ever get a second car when I move out of the city I will go NUTS with color.

If between the blue and grey, i'd go Grey

GLE450 AMG Coupe
I went with red for my GLE Coupe, and I'm happy with it. My last 2 MBs were black, so I needed a change. It is not an in-your-face red, it has copper tones to it.

I went with Cardinal red with saddle because both colors were new for 2016. I have no regrets. I have always loved saddle and the red looks so sporty. I also constantly get compliments because it isn't black, white, silver or gray.

The red on the coupe looks amazing. Then like johnnyderm said, black out some of the chrome and it would be even better. But if you ever take into consideration resale value (with value I mean ease of sale) on that niche vehicle, stick with a black, gray, or the hideous white.

Thank you all for the input.
I just saw a red in person, which looked great though not quite as red as in the pictures. I'd definitely consider it but need to find another to really look at in person.

At the moment, I'm still torn between the lunar blue or steel grey.
I'm noticing a ton of lunar blue mercedes running around town but everyone looks totally different, which is driving me crazy.
I love the blue when it's either a deep dark rich blue or bright and popping (if only I could special order brilliant blue!).
Has lunar blue changed over the past couple of years? I've seen a couple of clk and last gen cls and it looks a little washed out and purpleish, which I'm not a fan of.

Steel grey is safe and gorgeous but I'm worried it might get boring.

Also, does anyone happen to know a good place in SoCal for vinyl wrap? No matter what color I get, I'm likely going to get the silver lip blacked out. I don't understand why MB doesn't offer a night package on the 450 coupe. Especially considering they've gone and blacked out the mirrors and window trim. Seems like an odd choice.

Lunar blue is a stunning color IMHO, but the GLE in any form looks absolutely stunning in black. Both will be difficult to maintain, but equally so. And I suppose if you handwash you can keep either of these colors looking nice.

I drove to a couple of the local dealerships yesterday to get a better look at some the colors in person.

I agree that black is stunning, though probably 80% of the GLEs I've seen have been black or white, I'm thinking I may want something a bit different. Though it does seem to make sense why they're are so many, looks amazing.

Saw a beautiful C63 and GL in the lunar blue, both parked next to steel grey versions, which were equally nice looking.

Going to try to find a blue GLE out in the wild today as I'd like to finalize my decision.

Driving myself crazy on this.

First world problems...

I listen to my wife so all my cars are white.....If mercedes has PTS like BMW or Porsche, I would go for this color:

Painting calipers - Not Red?

Considering painting the GLE63 calipers Acid Green perhaps. Maybe even a Purple. Anyone considering the same. Stock is cool. But if not, was digging the Porsche caliper color as well as the exterior paint on the new GTS which is a purple.

I am a pretty stock kinda guy so this would be a big change for. Thoughts? Any colors to share opitions on?

I just feel like everyone has red and I would like the AMG to stand out a tad

I was thinking about doing the same Johnny. There is a prepainted caliper cover for the GLE that you can order. If I was going to paint it, I would go with yellow, gold, chartreuse or a pearl/opalescent color.

The first one I found, but have not had time to research them is

(Do the mods let you post that?)

I will definitely avoid covers. We all should on a benz. And instead may have them powdercoated. More $ but the right job to be done imho.

i would get mine painted but it's a lease and I'm pretty sure that painting the calipers would be a no-no.
