I am interested in getting your opinion on the 3-zone climate control. For people who didn't order it, are the passengers in the back comfortable. Do they complain about too hot/too cold?
For folks who did order it, do you think it is a must have now that you have seen it in action.
I ordered the rear heated seats which included an AUTO setting for the rear passengers. they can also change the air flow from top to bottom back there.
They can not change the temperature as it is controlled by the front seats. Although I am not sure if it is the driver or passenger setting that is controlled by the AUTO setting. But they have air flow and I also got the added benefit of rear heated seats. I hope this helps.
Thanks Chefcct.
I am reading it like this: Since there is no temperature control, there is no climate control, correct. Do you already have the car? If so, can you please please tell me the comfort level.
I have a choice of a GLE with 3 Zone cc or a GLE with B & O. The 3 Zone is for the kids, the B & O is for me. I don't want the kids to suffer but at the same time, I love the B & O.
Thanks
Hi again,
There is no temperature control for the back.
There is only an AUTO and OFF setting for the back seat with this set up.
Also, the comfort level is very good- no complaints from anyone.
Remember that the standard setup has no air being directed from the back of the center console like mine has. It only comes from the front of the car.
I have the Harmon Kardon stereo and it rocks out! I wouldn't be too keen on giving up the spare tire for the Bang and Olufsen system also.- But that is my opinion.

I thought there were vents that blow air except that you can't control the temperature. Am I mistaken?
I did not get the 3-zone because I thought it was just for the back seat. I regret that decision. If you don't get it, there is no "sync" option for the front seats. You will have to adjust the driver and passenger independently.
I've never heard my daughter complain about not being able to control the temp nor my mother in law. Maybe I just tune one of those out though.
Thanks BacnMerc !
Last weekend, we drove from Atlanta to NC and back in our 14 MDX which has rear control. I noticed, during the whole ride they had actually turned the AC off and they didn't complain. Gives me a little more confidence now.
Rear-climate control changes your AC system from Thermatic to Thermotronic. So it's not just a knob in the back to change a temperature. Gives you the Diffuse, Medium, and Focus settings for fan control for a quieter system, an extra filter (I think), and the ability to turn the zone control on/off. I like the Zone button most because I can sync the temps across the car when it's just me driving.
My Mom and her sister love the ability to crank down the AC (menopause) - and they turn the fan control to max. My Dad and I stay out of it up front. Then 30 seconds later it's off. Then on. And so goes our drive as a family.
Kids? I don't think kids really care as much. I've never had kids really pay it any attention other than it's a button to play with.
Edit: B&O is great, but not sure I'd give up a donut in hindsight if the GLE still offers a spare tire. Unless you listen to music at higher volumes on the highway, most would be hard pressed to tell the difference. B&O pushes you into run flats...which impact ride quality at bigger wheel sizes like the GLE has. H/K in my C300 was fine - but I do like the B&O quality at higher volumes...the spare tire would've saved me a tow in TN though.
