GLE production delays?
Has anyone else heard anything about GLE production delays? I have/had a 2017 GLE 550e on order with a dealer for a mid-September build. When I inquired yesterday as to the status, the salesperson advised we were still "on track for a mid-October build and late October delivery."
When I sent an email this morning with the prior email indicating it was a promised Mid-September Build and late September/early October delivery, the salesperson turned around and blamed the delay on Mercedes.
So my question is, does anyone know anything about production delays on the GLE's or delays on the GLE 550e specifically?

I asked my salesman about looking for a GLE 550e and his email replay was "The GLE550's have not been released to the dealers yet." I'm curious also?

GLE550e production started end-July - limited #'s for this is the new/new "Hybrid" - and there are about 80 or so already completed on schedule waiting at VPC for Federal approval for dealer release. Target dealer original release date was 9/1 thru 9/15 - based on Fed approval.

I asked about 550e delay. Sales guy email reply:
"Well since the VW issue the government has been rechecking everything over and over. Everything has been delayed because of this."

Today I was advised that the reason for the delay is not specific to the GLE 550e, but is instead related to a shortage of parts for the surround view system, which is affecting not just USA production, but cars built overseas as well which use the surround view system.

1) Yes - the Fed's have not yet approved this model/new-model-yr has not yet
2) Everything built up to last weekend is at Vance VPC pending Federal release
3) Production is relatively on schedule - as I have told you - for Sept/Oct production - at this moment running about 1 week behind
4) There is no Net-Star production-limit-alert - for Surround View - that said some wierdness goes on at Vance - but personally I have not yet seen them short Surround View
Stories like this - if I had to hazard a guess - if you are in a urban market - maybe a rig like yours - or very close to like yours - at a competitive/accessible dealer has a earlier production date - and stories from a salesman hold you back from looking at others dealers.
No one has control over when the Feds will release - it was anticipated soon - and production is still clicking off a few more every few days - again about 1 week behind original production schedule as of today..

Trust me, I gave that serious thought. But after 34 years of driving, I realized I am pretty gentle on wipers, and tend to not replace them (as much as I should) and that if it costs $$ every couple of years to change them out, so be it. Having had iced/frosted over windshields, overspray from wiper jets etc, this seems like a pretty elegant (if expensive) solution.

Just priced "Magic Vision" wipers for my GLE yesterday; almost $300/set in Canada (surely due to them being heated as well as having the fluid channels). Ouch.

That is crazy. The feature only costs $325 to add onto the car! But then looking at Airmatic as a $1610 option, the repair costs seem to exceed that, so it is clear Mercedes makes a lot of money on repair/replacement parts. Since this is a new feature, perhaps relatively soon there will be aftermarket companies making parts, like there are for the Airmatic parts.
