Wondering what solution folks are using for 2016/2017 GLE 350s and installing a ski rack? I have a Whispbar that I've been happy with but to use it I'll need install some kind of horizontal bars. Wondering if I should go with the Mercedes solution and I'm also wondering what folks have done that have panoramic sunroof?

Anyone use the Whispbar rail-bars on their GLE 350? I'm wondering if the pano sunroof will still open?

No problem with my Thule cargo box, regular moonroof opens OK. Paid $170.

Yes, back in August did long 800 miles trip with heavy loaded Thule box - all was OK. Now I am thinking to sell Mercedes OEM crossbars for my GLK and buy these for GLK - much lower profile and cheaper...

Hey Alex, just to clarify, do you have the moonroof or the panoramic sunroof? I'm wondering if those bars would be too low for my pano sunroof.

Just a regular sun/moon roof ( By the way fixed today at dealership due to malfunction). I think it will be fine with pano roof - because I see how panoramic roof works on my GLK. The rise seems to me the same.

Replying here to close out the thread. I bought the Thule cross bars from REI.com. I installed them and they fit well but the pano sunroof wouldn't opened correctly. So, I gave up. Wasted too much time. I went to the dealer and got the dealer recommended cross bars. They actually look pretty good on my brilliant blue GLE. They are higher profile than I would've liked but they fit and are super easy to take off. Noise is noticeable (will be way worse when I get ski rack put on) but not crazy.
