Great Winter Floor Mat Solution for GLEs
Learning from our 2012 ML350 BT, the standard Weather Tech MB winter mats simply do not provide sufficient coverage up the front to protect from snow, ice and salt build up on the carpets. This is especially the case on the dummy foot rest for the driver.
We took delivery of our 2017 GLE43 AMG Coupe on Oct 15. To protect the carpets from central Canadian winter snow and salt we found these great mats available at www.partsengine.ca. We have purchased these 3D MAXPIDER mats for both of our new vehicles and are impressed with the look, fit and coverage. The customer support at www.partsengine.ca is exceptional. They provide direct email responses and assistance.
I also checked with my MB Parts Manager who confirmed that all W166 MY2012 to present use the same mats, including the Coupe.
I have attached some photos to show how high up the front the mats cover the carpet. I estimate at least 8 inches higher than the Weather Tech mats.

nice. probably 2/3 of the price of weathertech. Would have gotten this if the dealer didn't give me a set of MB/weathertech for free.

GLE450 Coupe and C300w4
I have those on my coupe, going on 7 months now. They dulled pretty quickly after washing a couple of times. Grooves are still new looking but color isn't as vibrant. Good coverage though.

TravAll All-Weather Floor Mats for GLE43 SUV & Coupe
Here's another alternative model of all-weather mats. The price is a steal at $50 for the front and rear sets.

To assist with my selection of mats, I confirmed with my MB Parts Manager that the same mats fit all MY 2012 to present for MLs and the GLE s for both regular model and coupe. There is no difference between the models or from year to year with the W166.
These Travall mats may be more suitable for geographic areas that receive less snowfall and therefore, less salt is used. They appear to only cover the flat surface of the carpet.
Having had WeatherTec previously and now the 3 DMaxpider, the 3D provide much greater protection of the carpet on the sides and most importantly up the front. IMHO

That would be correct. There's always been some confusion on this topic. All-Weather "mats" are basically designed like carpeted mats, with the addition of grooves to catch rain and melting snow from your show soles. Mats are rubber and therefore pliable. All-Weather liners or trays are made from a more rigid compound and they have walls on the edges to provide total protection. If you're only dealing with an occasional light snow or rain, mats will do just fine. Heavy snow accompanied by salt is best handled by liners. What little snow we do get in NC usually melts as soon as it hits the ground, so mats work just find for me. Plus, I'm not particularly fond of the slippery nature of liners.

Why do people spend 65k for a car and pride themselves in $50 mats? Really, if the dealer gave you these mats you'd be crying on how cheap the dealer is.
Please look at the 3 DMaxpider, the 3D provide much greater protection of the carpet on the sides and most importantly up the front. I traded my WeatherTec for these because they were so much nicer. I bought the nylon ply version (formed Water proof carpet model) Can be found on eBay

AdiGuard car mats are great as well, but pricier.
But there is no reason to judge people if they are budget minded dude.

I also just got the Mercedes All-Weather "liners" for my GLE 550e. Ordered online and got a terrific deal and free fast shipping too. The front mats/liners are great. Really excellent coverage, and deep. They snap in, just like the carpet mats. The back liners, which run all the way across (unlike the carpet mats) are nice, but they don't snap in. I don't really understand this. They have an indent so they just sit on the little posts. Pretty much my only gripe. I paid less than the weathertec or some of the other brands, and got the nice MB logo to boot.

$154.97, including free shipping. Came fast, ordered on Monday, arrived Wednesday. Probably because the selling dealer is only 5 states away in NE. I am in the Mid-Atlantic.

Me too - thrown in for free. I do place a small rectangular (designed for rear floor) traditional rubber ribbed mat around 20" x 12" inside it to catch salt and melting snow. Keeps the whole thing cleaner and I prefer having my feet sitting on rubber over hard plastic. Have been doing this for about 5 years. Super easy to clean too since I don't have to remove the whole floor liner, just the small rubber mat.

In use action shot in that post.
skip the hard industrial liners, folks, unless you want your MB to feel like a '71 travelall inside.

Coco mats are not equivalent winter mess protection devices, despite your beating them into a state of senseless dieting.

I went with the WeatherTech mats. Weathertech is located about 25 miles from me and I'm a believer of buying locally when it makes sense. The store is really nice and I've watched WeatherTech grow from one building to six buildings. The owner uses Haas machines and pays a decent wage. Good for him.
