About to get: GLE 43 Coupe
Hi all,
Will be pulling the trigger on a GLE43 coupe this week![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Have cash to buy outright but am considering leasing as protection against resale values cratering in a few years (rise of EV variants etc).
Plan to get out before MB warranty ends anyway as I dont want to risk out-of-pocket repairs after that.
Thoughts?
Thx

You have a "solid reason" to look at lease plans - since you know you will be changing vehicles in about 3yrs - lease will give you clear cost of ownership that you can compare to outright purchase.
Check how your State taxes lease vrs purchase - for a "good number" of states charge sales tax on payment - rather than sales tax on the full purchase - for overall ownership "sales tax" savings.
Please note - prepaid service can be added into the lease as a residualized add on - meaning your "cost" will be the depreciated/partial value.
Mercedes 1st Class Lease also includes "GAP-waiver" which is a zero cahrge equivalent to GAP Insurance for a retail contract - in the event you total out under accident under Gap Waiver you walk away paying your Collision Deductible on your insurance policy.
You might consider asking your dealer about "One-Pay Lease" - write one check - rather than monthly - gives you a discount on total lease ownership cost - for those in a cahs position to take advantage of One-Pay - can work swell..

thanks man!
Talked to the dealer about one-pay, takes about 80 bucks a month of the lease which is nice.
He has the car I want but is sticking to MSRP....![Confused](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
Going to another dealer to see if I can get ~5% below
Thx.

Quick update, pushed and got a 5% discount off the 77K MSRP.
Still haven't signed tho as they took the discount off drive away costs leaving lease calcs based on full MSRP (54% RV, 0.00143MF on 36/12).
Comes out to 1140 a month with 1300 down.
Is this a fair way deal? Feels like I'm getting screwed the way they want to do it...

Be careful of single payment leases. If the vehicle is totaled the gap insurance will pay the residual but I'm pretty sure you are out your single payment.

I pressed the dealer on that and he was adamant the one pay capital would be returned. But I wasn't convinced so rolled everything into the payments and, put nothing down.
Thx.
