Just got my retrofitted and paid $300 out the door including parts and labor. The car finally feels a lil more modern now in the tech dept. and happy to be using google map and tunein.

I just got a 2017 BMW and CarPlay connects wirelessly! Every time I enter the car it automatically connects without having to do anything. While talking to the BMW guy he was surprised it wasn't the same for MB. I wonder if they ever offer the upgrade... I would do it just for the convenience because it's pretty nice!

wow, I never knew any carplay or AA connects wirelessly. Is it using BT, WIFI or NFC?

I believe it is BT. The cars I've looked at have all connected with my phone through BT as far as I know. And it was wirelessly!

It connects through BT but also has me turn on Wifi. Very stable and crystal clear!

how do you use google maps???
It's not an option in mine. Mine came installed from factory.

Plug in your Android phone and go to the media menu and select android auto. You will need to de-select the auto start for the carplay as I believe that's set by default. The system isn't smart enough to automatically detect whether you plugged in an iphone or android and I had to figure this out myself as the dealer had no clue how to get my android phone to work initially, lol. Once android auto comes up, google map should be just a click.

Trying to revive this thread. There are a few CPO coupes that I am interested in (2016s) and they do not have apple car play. My wife's GLS does and I really like it, particularly for the map feature. All the dealers with the CPOs say that apple car play CANNOT be added, but there are many people on this forum who say they HAVE had it done. Confused a bit. Will anyone who has had this retrofit done let me know which dealer they used to do the install? Thanks

Where in Texas are you? I'm asking because I am on the Dallas area. My 2016 CPO came with Carplay but not Android Auto. After trying with no result from the dealer, I finally bought an OBD little device that programmed it the option in just a couple of seconds, and it works perfectly fine. If you are in the area, we can try it in your car to see if it works
