built in the US or are the foreign ones like diesels manufactured somewhere else? Debating on whether to buy one in the US and ship it overseas in a couple years or pay much more money for a foreign one that offers more tailored options.

All GLEs in general for the world market are made in the USA and shipped worldwide. There may be a few exceptions where they are built in a local plant for local distribution like in India or Thailand.

i wonder if its possible to get a different country spec delivered to port so i can ship it myself and cut out the middle man. If i where to buy new in another country all they do is import it from europe which is why it cost so much to buy a foreign one.

I do not think so. Cars have to be bought thru a distributor or dealer. If you buy here in the USA. You buy a US model. You also sign an agreement that you will not export it.

well i can always give it to my wife. seems much cheaper to buy a US spec anyways, always end up 10grand more configuring the german model just based on their option packaging.
