It's the same issue I had when I bought my GLE. The smell was coming from the vent. All I did is spray a deodorizer (Lysol spray) into the vent on top of the hood closer to the windshield. While the vent fan is blowing full speed with all the windows open this allow the deodorize spray to be sucked into the HVAC system. Then I changed the cabin/dust filter (from the engine bay) and never had an issue after that and it's been over couple of years now with no issues.

Once a year I change the cabin filter and spray Lysol into the hood vents with the fan on full speed. I also spray the new filter as well. No issues. I let the car run with window down of course to get the smell of Lysol out. After about 5 min everything is as good as new. Not falling for whatever the dealer has as a “fix” as I do not believe it.

Pretty much what you just said. That’s what works.

I'm pretty sure it was mold growing inside somewhere in the duct's because my wife is sensitive to any mold (It trigger sneezing). I was getting light headed from a musty smell, never knew why till my wife mention it days after we bought the GLE.

I was told warranty covered this.

I took it in for smelly sweat-sox odor.

They replaced evaporator box & filter N/C
