Can I add AdBlue myself for our GLE 300d?

My wife has a 2016 GLE 300d. It has almost 40,000 miles on it and seems to drink AdBlue every 7 - 8k miles. It's pretty inconvenient and expensive to go to the dealer every time it needs AdBlue. Does anybody have any experience with topping it up with generic DEF? The dealer of course makes it sound complicated and I'm sure it's not, but figured I'd get some input here first. Any help is appreciated!

Good approach. I just cut the bottom of that expensive bottle and using it as funnel.

Yes, that's what I used to do when I had my ML. I would buy the 2.5 gallon jug from a VW dealer (~$10 iirc) and use that bottle as a funnel. Be sure to keep it clean.

That certainly went up! Remember, DEF is DEF. So you have several options from Walmart, to AutoZone, to truck stops. The only thing you really "need" is the neck from the small MB bottle that you're using as a funnel.

I buy the 2.5 gallon bottles from auto zone and use the included extendable hose with no problem in the back of our 300. No need to make a funnel.
