GLE 400 vs 450 Pricing
Can someone with experience with MB's please offer thoughts on a reasonable discount considering the end of the model year and considering the major (and fantastic) redesign that will finally be out in just a couple months? I was planning on buying my first MB when the 3rd row W167 came out (I was hoping for last year), but I am now being told the W167 won't be available before February at best. I can't wait that long as I'll be without a car in about two weeks. I'm talking purchase, not lease. Will keep for 6 to 8 years. So, shame, but I've got to have to buy something now.
I've test driven the W166 and (as nice as it is and no offense to the loyal MB persons here) but to me it feels quite dated and a bit far behind in features compared to competition (like the X5, Velar, and sorry to say but even the Nautilus and Acura) , but I think with Premium 2 or Premium 3 I could be happy with it (as long as I stay away from people that have the newer W167. We can get by, (just not ideally without the 3rd row). . A lot of what is in Premium 2 and some of Premium 3 is in base for the W167 and there is some strong competition to the W166 so it's hard to justify the prices being asked for it W166 currently.
I stopped by an MB dealer and I was offered 10% off a pretty loaded W166 without even trying, but the package was at MSRP of ~72K, not the color or configuration I'd really want and 10% off on a model that is for all practical purposes done, didn't seem like a good deal.
Considering how much is already standard in the 2020 version, I'm beginning to wonder what is a good number? Maybe at 20% off? But even if dealers are doing that (and I have no idea if they are yet), I'm sure I'll be more than paying for that on the back end. Not to mention the gas mileage kind of sucks and I would have liked a 3rd row.
As I consider whether to do this or whether I have to put MB off until next time, what do you all think is reasonable and achievable regarding discounting off MSRP? I've been trying to answer it myself and am having trouble, partially because I'm questioning if the value is really there in a 2019 model.
Thoughts appreciated and Thank you!

MBWorld Fanatic!
why not buy CPO used?
Then you can look at the GLS with 3rd row for similar money and if low mileage the CPO warranty will be worth it and let you know she is keeper for timepast warranty.

2017 GLE350 4MATIC
Leigh, what color and equipment configuration are you looking for? Have you searched cargurus.com? There are new vehicles and very low mileage used vehicles, for example service loaners, listed. I bought my GLE350 4MATIC this way. 1 year old with 3,000 miles, in pristine condition. 25%-35% off window sticker is achievable.
What model year are you looking for? It wasn't clear to me from your post. 2019 GLE400? These won't start dropping in price until the 2020 W167 is on the showroom floor. 2018s, and 2017s for that matter, are attractively priced in my view.

The above is a nationwide search from cargurus. Play around with the parameters to find what you are looking for.
2018 GLE 4MATIC white with ginger and premium 2, with 2200 miles is listed at $55,500. Depending on where you live and how ambitious you are to find a vehicle, good deals are possible.
