Cool GLE 43 PPM, ELW and Windshield Coverage

Hi everyone,

I just purchased a CPO 2018 GLE43 with 11k miles. Its first A service had been performed already. I wasn't able to find much information on PPM or ELW besides the threads from 2016 and 2018 on this forum. I'm considering purchasing an extra 2 years ELW coverage to give the vehicle 6 years unlimited mileage protection. MB Austin told me 6 years total coverage is the maximum you can buy. Can anyone verify this?

I only spoke to 2 dealers MB Austin and Woodlands. Both are offering 2 years ELW coverage for $2995 no discounts!
Also PPM can only be purchased at a maximum of 3 at a time for $1850 or 2 for $1255.

I will probably include windshield protection if they can get me a better price than $1359 through Permaplate. I'm sure the cost of the windshield and re-calibration of those fancy sensors will pay for itself after one replacement! I come from 2 BMW's and they also use Permaplate. Both BMW's had to have new windshields replaced and re-calibrated.

I finalize my paperwork on Tuesday. Can anyone help me with where I can find better pricing on ELW, PPM and windshield coverage pricing??

If cpo you get full original 4 yr warranty +1 extra cpo warranty + extendable 2 yrs
For full 7yrsbfrom in service date.

Tafel motors, and the guy on this forum who is associated with them. Jeff Jackson I believe.
If you search elw or extended warranty you'll find a bunch of threads from nearly every model that discusses it.

Look on the mb configurayor and look at msrp ppm pricing. Negotiate from there. You can purchase max of 4 services.

Perma plate is not worth it. Spend the money on $0 comprehensive deductible or if your state has it a glass rider policy.

A gaggle of MB's
For PPM - MSRP 2yrs is $1,255 and 3yrs $1,750 - which can be purchased at any time BEFORE CHECK-IN for your 20K/2yr service. If you're planning to keep your glc43 to-or-past 40K miles the 3-pack is a solid bargain since you get B-A-B/20-30-40 - FYI 4yr/40K is not offered contrary to what others say.

For added CPO - +1Yr (for total 2yr CPO) MSRP $1,795 - +2yr (for total 3yr CPO) MSRP $2,495 - note CPO starts when 4Yr/50K New Car Warranty ends by mileage or time whichever comes 1st - for your 2018 MB if you will pass 50K 1st before 4yrs - MB doesn't know when you cross 50K so CPO clock starts at date 1st service recorded after crossing 50K miles.

Note on +CPO cost - after 30 days from purchase of your MB - MB MSRP for XtraCPO goes up 15% - dealer cost for that XtraCPO goes up 5%

Where "you save a lot" is when a MB dealer tries to charge-over-MSRP (which is allowed) - at MSRP dealer margin on PPM is frankly tight/small - not much better margin on +CPO - certain dealers like Tafel will be aggressive on phone/email upside customers because helps with "monthly penetration" #'s with MBFS

Really? Why is the 40k package in correctly placed on the configurayor then?

The correct packages for a new or CPO vehicle are found using VIN# and current miles in the Mercedes VMI system inside Netstar .

A. If you buy a new Mercedes and plan to keep for 4yrs/40K miles - it is cheapest/best-bang-for-the-buck to buy your 1st/10K out of pocket - then purchase 3-pack before 20K service to cover 20/30/40

B. If you are going into 30K service - and plan to keep another 3yrs/30K - then buying 3-pack (for 30/40/50) huge savings over individual service costs for those mileage intervals.

Prepaid service is normally non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another MB - so DON'T overbuy service - if you have unused Ppd Service at time of trade-in for your next Mercedes - let the dealer know since they can take advantage of that to pay their CPO Service cost - and in return "you should get something extra free " on the deal for your new Mercedes

Thanks for the replies everyone. I didn't realize buying 2 more years of ELW would mean I get a total of 7 years warranty including the 1 year of CPO. I thought the 2 extra years were from the in-service date.

Is $2995 for 2 extra years of ELW overpriced? I feel like they can do better than that!

As far as 4 pack of PPM, I will check with the finance department again on Tuesday, Thanks kombifan for the screenshot of the 4 pack. Do I have any negotiating room below that MSRP pricing?

Of course. It's msrp so they have the freedom to go up or down.

Make sure it is clear what you are buying considering elw.
So times a dealer will use convoluted writing to sell you a 1 yr extension as a promise of two extra years. Make sure to be clear that you want the full max warranty in terms of yrs (7) yrs.

I lnservice date when new. Not from when you bought it.

I will be sure to clarify 7 years total. Meanwhile MB Austin was offering ELW $2995 (MSRP) and PPM 3 service pack at $1850 (above MSRP).

My nearby MB Sugar Land store was offering ELW $3995 (above MSRP) and PPM at $1850 (above MSRP).

They told me only new MB cars can qualify for the 4 PPM service pack.

I might just have to bargain with them in person.

Ok after speaking to finance yesterday and picking up my car, they are not budging on their pricing:

ELW 2 years: $2995
PPM 3 pack: $1750
Permaplate 5-year Windshield: $1359

My insurance company is Amica and they use aftermarket not OEM windshields. Also when asked what about recalibration at the dealer they had no clue what I was talking about!

I will contact Marc Rose at WI Simonson for more information per all of the recommendations on this forum.

I am also looking for documentation from MB's website about refunding the CPO ELW. How long do I have before it can be 100% refunded?

Thanks!

Try Jeff at tafel motors too

Again, I would just up your coverage to a 0£ deductible and pay the out of pocket difference.

I have geico, notorious for wanting aftermarket windshields. I took the car to safelite per geicos wishes and insisted on a genuine mb windshield. They installed it at no cost to me.
