I've used ceramic pads on various cars and am not sure they are any better in the end- more so just different. Reviews on pads considered may mean more since how they are made, the quality of materials used , and so on, make a difference.
Look at comparisons and reviews of the different pad materials and you'll find noise, wear and tear on the rotors, and dust vary quite a bit and further complicate deciding what to get. In the end, noise and brake rotor wear are just as important as how much dust they create, at least to me.

It's my experience that BMW's/Mercedes use brakes pads that generate significantly more brake dust than domestic or asian cars. I have used Autozone gold pads on my bmw and it got rid of the problem, they were cheap, and performed well for normal street use and commuting so I was very happy. That's what I plan to buy when I have to replace the brakes on my GLE as well.
