Replacing staggered wheels on AMG GLE 63s
Front Tire - 285/40/ZR/22 - 10” wheels
Rear Tire - 325/35/ZR/22 - 11.5” wheels
As you may already know, not many choices for winter, and especially any all seasons in the 325/35/22 size. To give myself more choices, I have ordered new wheels for the back to match 22 x 10" wheels in the front with 285/40/22 tires to go along with it. Today, my wife took the car to have the new wheels and tires put on and the shop refused to swap out the wider wheels/tires in the back saying it will damage the finely tuned suspension on this SUV. She insisted and they told her they cannot do that due to liability reason and that we would void our warranty (it was a not the MB dealership rather a generic wheel/tire shop) - they even refused to mount the new tires on the new wheels (vs actually put them on the car).
Any ideas if there is actually issues with replacing the wider wheel/tire with a narrower wheel - and have it in some ways damage the suspension. I am aware that I will lose some power/traction but I am willing to live with that for winter.
Thank you...
