Rear headrest is stuck!

The rear headrest on my 2016 GLE is stuck. This is a nightmare. You can't put the seats down because the headrest is sticking up.

Any ideas on how to get it down? The little tab doesn't seem to want to move.

Has anyone encountered this? Any trick to it?

Thanks.

I just played with all three rear seat headrests. They can be removed easily. The black plastic button where the rod enters the seat back is the trick and should work easily. Do you have something sticky that got spilled into the headrest support rod?

The car got loaned to family and came back broken. I assume it got man-handled. Haven't been able to do anything with it. black plastic bit is broken/jammed.

Try working the main headrest up and down whilst trying to operate the release button. It’s not a complex mechanism, there isn’t much there. If necessary you could remove the back panel using trim tools and access the headrest from the inside.

Rear seat back trim panel removal, need long wedge and trim pulling tools.

Thanks! I got it fixed. I was trying to push it down. I ended up pulling up and once I got it loose, it fixed itself. Now it works fine so hopefully thats the end of it.
