GLS 450 vs GLE 43 amg engine

Is the engine of the X166 450 the same as the GLE 43 AMG? Is the tune the only difference between the two or is there more into it?

The base 3.0 TT V6 is the same. There are likely detail differences including potentially tuning differences. The best way to know is to surf EPC and compare part numbers for the two engines.

At a minimum the GL/GLS and the ML/GLE will have tuning difference based on wheelbase and vehicle weight.

AMG tune in the past was rebuilding whole engine. No clue if that apply here, but bigger pistons, bigger valves, bigger exhaust.

@shotgun_banjo When you look up Wikipedia or the MB owners manuals for these two cars, what are the torque and HP specs? How much difference is listed in these values?

The spec difference listed above is well within the range of tuning differences.
