Remote Start - HVAC functions

I have a 2018 GLE 350 4matic. This is my first Benz with remote start capability. I have been driving Chevy pickups for years now. No manufacturer beats GMs remote start capabilities. Key FOB and cell phone app. Turns on the heat/air, seat warmer / chiller and steering wheel heat all depending on the outside conditions.
So my question is... does my Benz do any of that? Haven't noticed the seats or steering wheel being warm at all the past couple of mornings. Temps below 30F. I am assuming the HVAC comes on to the last settings but I don't know that for sure.

You got it - only the HVAC comes on in line with last settings. Not seats or steering wheel :-(

Yeah it's true that GM still owns "fancy" vehicles like these German SUVs in what can be done with auto start functionality (even with most features activated FROM THE DAM KEY FOB!!!!!!). I don't understand this because FAR MORE of America is in a temperate (decently warm climate all year round) compared to Germany. So I'd expect more Germans would want their skinny butts warmed in colder temps than the fat butts of southern Florida, Texas or California. Maybe they don't realize what they are missing out on yet, but you ARE GOING TO BE MISSING OUT on those warming features on Mercedes models until they figure this out. Maybe this'll be covered in the new EQ models, with their "subscription-based services" model all driven through smart phone interfaces... or you could just buy a 2013 GM product instead

I just got my 2018 GLE 350. I'll probably keep it for a couple years then look at a Cadillac XT5 or XT6.
My wife just traded her XT5 for an XT4. We drove the XT4 and a GLC300 back to back. She chose the XT4. In my opinion, it was close but I preferred the XT4 as well.

Remote start is not available in Germany and Europe in general, because it's illegal. It's a bone they throw in for the weak Americans. Even up in the Scandinavian countries near the north pole folks manage w/o it. The number of remote start complaints on these forums is kinda mind boggling. If you live in a cold climate, deal with it or move I suppose, or clean out that garage and park the car inside.

You are too funny. Everyone can manage without it. But why would you if you don't have to? American trucks have been doing remote start with automatically adjusting climate control for about two decades now. I've had 7 new chevy trucks over the past 16 years. Not a single remote start issue.
Oh, I do Park in the garage. Not an option at work.

There are actually good reasons to go w/o it. Idling an ice cold engine is about the worst you can do for wear and tear. Not to mention the unnecessary burning of fuel so you have a warm bun when getting into the car. Anyway, it's one of the quintessential first world problems.

Yeah, 100 grand on a new Mercedes and the remote start sucks. BMW has it in the keyfob, and it auto adjusts climate control and seat warmers. My 2020 explorer sport also had a way better remote start than Mercedes, also built in to the keyfob.
