CarPlay cannot change to next song on steering wheel

Hi, My 2018 gle 350 when CarPlay mode steering will controls do not work..it just say “CarPlay is active” I was in friends 2018 cla250 with the same Harmon radio and he was able to change his music on CarPlay…am I missing an update or 2018 gle do t have that feature?..

My 2016 GLE is like yours. The dash says the same message with car play being active…

Never thought about trying changing tracks from there as it seems so much more faster simply to use the next and previous buttons in the console, but I tried with mine (late-2016 model) with Android Auto (retrofitted) and, yup, it says "Android Auto active" and cannot change the track.

Yeah, same on my 2017. While the steering wheel buttons don't work (well volume does), the Next Track or Song is the 'forward' and 'back" buttons on the main console, flanking the power button:
