I re-read XXX’s email and it is still not clear to me what you would like me to do regarding running on the gasoline engine.
As I mentioned in our call, I drove back from Whistler on Sunday evening (125 km of mostly highway driving under gasoline power) and the vehicle was put away “hot”. The transmission problem still occurred with the first 2-3 upshift after I left my garage on Monday morning. Also, as clarified below, the gasoline engine is not involved in the problem.
Please let me know what you would like me to check.
Best regards,

This morning, I experienced the violent lurch during a slightly braked 3-2 coasting downshift while running on the electric motor, and over the past couple of weeks, virtually every 2-3 upshift under electric power has jolted.
Until now, I have not experienced the violent lurch since the November 2020 software update. Is it possible that the MB Canada technician actually reverted the previous software patch that partially cured these problems?
Would you be available for a call sometime this week? I’d appreciate your advice about next steps and don’t think this can wait for XXX to return.
Thank you,

We had the chance to sit down and discuss your feedback from last week. It was confirmed that software 11/20 was indeed the last installation, and remains with your vehicle currently. It was also confirmed no software updates are in production nor planned for your model. According to data collected during our extensive road tests, all transmission data that was recorded and evaluated was found to be within normal operating specifications.
While I understand this is not the response you are looking to receive, after our discussion last week, we are still recommending you select the gasoline-engine mode before beginning your commute in order to avoid engine flooding.
I am currently out of the office this week, however, CAC is on copy and will see any note and update to case.
I have been waiting for a meaningful response to the fact that your Specialist worked on the wrong problem, but I suppose that is not coming.
There is no question that the transmission in this vehicle is defective. There is also no question that other people have faced the same issue with this model.
I can only suppose that MB is aware of the problem and chooses to blow off customers facing this issue rather than honoring your warranty.
I also note that MB’s standard procedure for diagnosing transmission problems is to conduct a joint test drive with the customer, yet this was never offered to me either by the dealer or your Specialist, further indicating that you have no interest in actually resolving the issue. A simple phone call to me by the Specialist would also have confirmed that I do not “run out of torque” under electric power on any hills during my daily driving.
This has been the worst vehicle ownership and customer service experience in my 40-year driving career.
I recognize that complex vehicles can have technical problems and I have been perfectly willing to work with you to resolve them. However, the dismissive attitude that I have faced throughout this process is not forgivable. Treating me like an idiot who can’t tell the difference between a bad gear change and the transition between electric and gasoline power was also not helpful.
As I indicated at the time, my email to Mr. XXX was my final attempt, after 5 long years of facing transmission problems and unsatisfactory customer service, to resolve this issue.
Accordingly, I have decided to dispose of the vehicle.
Not being a litigious person, my only recourse at this point is to do my utmost to ensure that my family, friends, acquaintances and anyone else who will listen to my story never buy another Mercedes-Benz.
Das Beste oder nichts,

I'm not sure if this is the same issue, but in my 2016 500 e, the upshift from 2nd to 3rd in electric/hybrid mode could be considered not perfect occasionally, but I noticed that if I use the car in eco mode (use individual mode and configure the engine to eco mode), which is the mode I like to use the most, the issue is alleviated. Would this help for you?
[QUOTE=UniqueName;8790676]I'm sorry to hear you are also having the problem. I have escalated my case to the Vice President level at Mercedes-Benz Canada and they continue to deny that there is a problem. So, I wish you luck.
I’ve been experiencing similar problems and have been reading this forum to find solutions, and ironically enough, my GLE 550e was in fact previously owned by the Vice President of Mercedes Benz Canada, I’m not sure if it is the same as the current one, but it would be quite interesting this problem was ignored by someone who previously owned this vehicle considering I bought it with fairly low mileage (30k km). I’ve always been curious why it was let go so early by someone who works a high position in the company and fully packaged and customized as someone would if they were originally planning to keep it long term, it’s almost as if this issue was discovered, sold and now ignored, although I experienced these issues quite recently (72k km).
