Door "clacks" when closing/opening

Door "clacks" when closing/opening
The front driver-side door on my 2016 GLE makes a loud "clock clock clock" sound when I open or close it. It's coming from the hinge area. I think it's the stops that keep the door partially open but can't figure out how to quiet the sound some. I tried putting a light coat of oil on the hinges but it didn't really help. I didn't see anything in WIS about lubricating either.
Anyone know how to fix it?

LIkely the hinges need replaced, common problem. Lower hinge seems replaceable by removing the kick panel trim. Upper hinge seems to require fender removal.

Sorry about the late reply - juggling too many chainsaws.
It's the upper hinge that's making the sound. It's not real loud, but louder than the rarely-used passenger door, and it seems to coincide with the "stops" that exist to hold the door partially open. It appears to me that the "intermediate stop" function (not fully closed, not fully open) is internal to the hinge.
I think I'm going to see if I can get some lubricant into the hinge pin hole. I seem to recall trying that once before and it didn't help. It's possible I didn't get the lube in the right place ... or something.
The fasteners that hold the hinge to the door frame appear to be accessible. The ones that hold the hinge to the body appear to be rivets. I'll have to look at that a little harder to see how that all works.

Had to have my bottom drivers hinge replaced back in Sep 21. My car is 2015 ML and at that time it had 75,000 miles. Cost 471.55 which included having to paint match the hinge. . Tried all the lubricants, nothing worked, but that fixed it. My wife just said the sound was back again. Will wait and which hinge it is this time. etc. Its a 2015 Ml with
