Silly question, I suppose, but is your mbrace emergency call service active? Also, this service uses the cell network so if your vehicle is equipped with the old, retired 3G system it may not work. I forget what the cutoff is for the model years affected but I think it's 2018 and older that have the 3G.

The decommissioning on 3G Network in (2) phases
August 1, 2022 for the following model years (MY):
December 1, 2022 for the following model years:
2018/newer uses "Mercedes me connect" app. Not sure if it by the year of the vehicle or the build date when they transition from 3G to 4G.
August 1, 2022 for the following model years (MY):
- MY2000 - 2012: All models
- MY2013: S-Class, CL-Class
- MY2014: AMG SLS, CL-Class
December 1, 2022 for the following model years:
- MY2013 – 2016: C-Class, E-Class, CLS, M-Class/GLE, GL, AMG SL, SLK/SLC, G-Class
- MY2013 – 2015: GLK
- MY2014 – 2016: B-Class, CLA, S-Class
- MY2015 – 2016: AMG GT
- MY2016: GLC, GLE Coupe
- Select MY2017: C-Class Coupe, GLS, AMG GT, S-Class cabriolet, S65 AMG Sedan
