Would you buy an extended warranty from CarMax on a 2019 GLE400 ??
not from. A salt using state either based on the CARFAX 0 accidents, / owners.
they want like 3-4k depending on the warranty term. I’ve heard it’s not a bad warranty but also heard this is a fairly bulletproof platform and engine.
thoughts ?
Be careful with car max if you decided to purchase it I highly recommend having Mercedes to do a complete inspection on it.

If there are major issues, return the car. If not, buy the car and the extended warranty. I've heard carmax is good with honoring their warranty. I considered buying a car from carmax only because of the warranty. One repair on this car and it has pretty much paid for itself
Get a 3 year or 4 year warranty. At least have coverage during your financing term.

Lack of maintenance of:
- Transfer Case Fluid Exchange
- Front and Rear Differential Fluid Exchange
- Front Timing Covers
- Tensioners Failing (Rattle on Startup)
- Turbo Intercooler Leaking Coolant
- Transfer Case Failure (Just change your fluid)
- Camshaft Magnets Leaking Oil into the Harness
- Camshaft Position Sensor Leaking Oil Harness
- Corrosion on the Transmission Pan if you're on the East Coast
Will they be using Genuine Mercedes parts?
What shop(s) are you allowed to bring the car?
Proof of Oil Change Intervals? or is DIY allowed
These are the questions that come to my head
Hope that helps.
1. I currently pay $149 a month and as long as ii keep the payments up, the car will be covered forever. In fact, I asked this question to them directly and they said yes there is no mileage limitation.
2. In their contract it states that they can use pretty much any brand of parts they want to repair the car. If you want to use genuine Mercedes parts, then I have to cover the difference in price.
3. I had to make sure that my local non dealer Mercedes mechanic who has been working on the car since day one would accept the warranty terms and coverage because they have to jump through some hoops to do repair work on my car.
So the bottom line is I would do it again.
I have had some repairs and they have been covered minus the $100 deductible fee per repair.
My car is currently at 125,000 miles. So because I can still get coverage and as long as i want, I think it’s worth it. Of course, you need to remember that I started the coverage at just under 100,000 miles when my original Mercedes extended warranty expired.
I hope this helps you with your decision.

That way more than covers maintenance and repairs even on a Mercedes, exceedingly so if you DIY, using OEM or better parts.
IMHO, YMMV, IME, ETC

A couple of things to keep in mind.
First of all I do not DIY anymore. I used to, but I gave that up years ago. I have an excellent local Mercedes master mechanic who does work for about half of what the dealer would charge.
For example, I had a coil pack go bad and cost me $100 total for the deductible.
Another example is broken coil Springs, again this cost me $100 total.
Lastly, the front panel on the air-conditioning went bad and again that cost me about $100 total.
So everybody has to decide is it worth it for them. I also am heavily weighting the fact that the car now has 125,000 miles on it. Which means every passing year more and more things will be going wrong with it that will be covered by the extended warranty. It gives me peace of mind.
Take care and have a great rest of your day.
