They are not really all that expensive either. Looks like you could do all four corners for somewhere just north of a grand...

I just received the Nitto tires in the exact replacement sizes for the 22 inch rims. I purchased from tire buyer online.
Tires look great. They are being mounted now and I'll have a drive review soon

Nice! Let us know how it goes. I would be interested in hearing noise volume and if they are usable in light snow

the tires have a very aggressive tread. They look great and will provide a little more protection from curb rash over the Contis. I have two days of driving on them including highway speeds of 85 mph. The noise level is higher but manageable. I prefer the on road tire noise to the lack of grip when they are cold. I dont think there will be issues on the snow but will review that when it happens

Wheel offset

Hi!

I just bought a 2017 GLE Coupe AMG 43. I love it!
It came with 22” rims (285-40-22 ET56 front and 325-35-22 ET40 rear). Yes it does throw the car around side to side and when turning the wheels all the way, the width of the tires cause a slip/stick jerk when pulling into/out of driveway... price to pay I suppose.

im looking to put on a winter rim/tire. Up here in Toronto, we typically get a lot of snow in the winter.

I was told that the winter package from MB comes with 275-50-20 winter tires with ET53 on the front and ET29 on the rear.

Ive found similar OEM MB rims on kijiji and marketplace but nothing with the offsets I’m being told are needed.

I don’t want to use wheel spacers to fit and would like to know what offsets will work on our cars?

I’ve looked through most of the posts, but didn’t see any info on offsets.

Thanks in advance!

Don’t use spacers. Just buy the right 21” wheels from MB. I use Pirelli scorpion Winter tires in snow. Conti CrossContact LX Sport in the cold weather and long road trips. My 22” wheels reserved for summer and high speeds in Mexico. These are the 21” wheels.

I bought mine from eBay for cheap. Two tires were bad because how they were stores, but the wheels were great.

I changed from original Contis to the nitto 22 all season. They are a little noisier than than the summer tires but they drive great.
No popping noises when tight turns from the driveway!
tirebuyer.com has them.
we have not had snow yet but I'm confident they will be fine

Wheel offsets

Thanks for the feedback.

sounds like the recommendation is to buy the rims from MB and tires elsewhere?

new rims from MB are pricey. I was hoping to buy some used MB rims. Now that I think about it, maybe the for sale forum here?

has anyone played with offsets to find what range will work on the rear? Sorry, I’m new To this.

thank you

Steven is there a difference in the noise at slower vs faster speeds? Would you purchased them again? I am really looking at these as an option for the stock Contis 22 replacement. Can you share a pic of the NITTO NT420V mounted on your stock rim? Thanks.

I too would love an update on these Nittos. How many miles do you figure you will get out of these? This tire turnover with the Contis is nauseating.

Jerking back and forth with the Nittos 22s

Is this reduced with the Nitto all season 22s or do I need to go to a 21 to not have this type of jerking back and forth ride since it has a wide sidewalk.

22" winter tires

None of this stuff about don't drive below 45 was ever said to use ever when we bought the vehicle.

I really like the looks of the 22" rims, but don't like the tire options...

Hi there, where you able to find tires for the 22s. I just got a 2019 and im in the same spot, panicking for al-season or winter tires as im in NY and i cant drive on summer tires here in the winter.

For what it’s worth, i put the nitto 22s on a couple of months ago and have enjoyed them. I’m in Atlanta. Can’t comment on performance in ice etc. but i have had no performance issues otherwise... hoping to get some additional lifespan out of them

Thank you for the reply, i just ordered the Nitto as it is the only option right now for me with this pandemic going on. Pirelli makes all season ones that run up to $400 a piece but there is none in stock as far as US vendors. I was told this is part due to the low demand and the corona too..
One more question, how about in wet conditions? Any noticeable issues? Thank you!!

Hey, happy to answer any questions... I haven’t had any issues in the rain... they have been quite enjoyable thus far and without any red flags so to speak.... for some context, I am certainly not an overly aggressive driver and may not be the best resource from a pure high-end performance standpoint... that being said I would get the same pair again without hesitation... hoping I get a couple of years out of them.. feel free to shoot me any question any time.. I’m not on this website often but if you direct message me, it should show up in my email

Do all four tires have to be replaced at the same time?

Just put 21" Vredestein WintracPro snows on my wife's car. OEM a/s tires have 20k miles on them. Fronts have lots of tread left but rears down to wear bars. When I take off the snows do I really have to replace all four at the same time?

Had the Nitto NT420V's mounted on 22" and happy with initial feel. Markedly improved ride / handling in cold and light snow. Good value, I think, though time will tell on the wear.

Just adding to this thread - looks like Michelin now offers a Mercedes OE set of tires for the 22's. Saw a new 2021 GLE53 AMG at the dealer sporting these tires, prompted me to look into this,
Sorry if this was already posted. I didn't remember seeing Michelin offer a set of 22's back when I first jumped onto this thread.
Not exactly inexpensive, but Michelin does make high quality tires. 6YR/30K warranty (although note - 1/2 mileage for staggered tire sizes)

I live in Bellevue and just bought a 2019 GLE 43. How are you doing with your all season tires in the snow? I live on a big hill and expect to have to deal with snow every winter. Thanks!

Just noticed no reply on your question yet… I live in the Atlanta area and replaced the original 22” Pirelli summer tires with Nitto all season tires. So far happy with the Nittos, even if noisier than the Pirellis. But I don’t need to deal with frequent snow. I grew up in Switzerland and dealt with a fair amount of snow there. If you have 22” wheels I suggest buying a second set of 21” wheels and a set of good quality winter tires. Scroll up this thread for a few recommendations for winter tires: somebody even went down to 20”. On eBay every once in a while you can find pre-owned 21” OEM wheels for a decent price. Enjoy your GLE43!
