2018 GLE coupe 43 ordered!

I tried but just couldn't wait any longer for the facelift. Ordered a fully loaded coupe 43 amg, 118k EUR ($139k).
Delivery first week of January... Not my first "super" car but having that weird feeling of impatience and excitement!

EDIT: Engine has been upgraded on the 2018 model - 385hp vs 362hp, 0-60mph/100km acceleration increase ?

It's been only a week and impatience is growing at an exponential rate. This is going to take forever...

In the mean time, here's how to entertain yourself:
  • Scour through the owner's manual. The PDF version for MY2018 isn't online yet, but the one for MY2017 is. See link below. Learn everything you possibly can, so when it arrives, you'll already know how to work everything. Who wants to waste time reading once your car has arrived?
  • Install the Mercedes-Benz Guide (link below). It's the entire manual for your phone. You can "bookmark" certain features and always have instant access to them while actually in the car.
  • Download the Mercedes me app. You can't register your vehicle yet, but you can get familiar with its features.
  • Organize your music/movie collection. Buy a low-profile USB drive if you don't already have one. See link below.
  • Watch lots and lots of YouTube videos of other people enjoying their cars. This one might be kind of hard. It'll make your mouth water. Caution! You may need a bib to catch the drool.
  • Research Test Reviews. See what the so-called experts have to say.
  • Shop for accessories to customize your car.
  • Compile a list of things you DON'T want the dealer to do to your brand new vehicle upon arrival.
Of course, none of this will actually work. In fact, it may even exacerbate the problem. But it'll be a nice temporary distraction.

Three days left. Took a month longer than expected, dealer's fault. Time to read the manuals!

You have a lot of catching up to do.

You'll want to make sure they properly prep your car. Here's my list of dealer do's and don'ts. I emailed this list to my sales adviser. Didn't want to chance it to his memory.
  • Check for recalls by VIN.
  • Ensure all fluids are topped off. E.g. oil, brake fluid, anti-freeze, transmission fluid, etc. My wife's car was delivered two quarts low on oil. They never bothered to check the level.
  • Ensure proper air pressure in tires.
  • Install wheel locks. I ordered these at the link below for half the dealer's price. Asked them to do the installation while I was finishing the paperwork. Of course, they didn't charge me.
  • Obtain touch-up paint. They should throw this in for free, if they have it in stock. Buy this before you get any paint chips. Bare metal starts to rust almost immediately.
  • Inform them you don't want any dealer installed add-ons (e.g. window tinting, pinstriping, rustproofing, etc.) Dealers in my state automatically install window tint on all new cars, unless told otherwise. I get my own tint. This way, I know what type they're installing.
  • Tell them not to install any dealer name badge/decals. I never get these. It ruins the look. Besides, I'm not giving them free advertisements. But you have to tell them before they put them on. Better to tell them beforehand than to have them removed and risk damage to the finish.
  • No "orbital" polishing. Can you say "swirl marks"?
  • Hand wash only. My dealer has an on-site automated car wash. They run all new cars through it....unless told otherwise.
  • Obtain window sticker. I always keep these, but they'll sometimes throw them away if you don't ask for it.
  • Check for updates to the navigation database. The latest U.S. version is 2017/2018 (V8.0) N. AMERICA.
  • Register with MercedesMe.
