WAZE
Does anybody know if there is anyway for WAZE to show up on the Command screen? It would be a lot easier than staring down at my phones little screen. Thanks, Frank

A competent shop can add "HDMI mirror" function to your system - about $1000+ - plug's your phone to center consoles then "mirrors" phone display to center dash LCD display.

No need to pay $1,000. WAZE will display on the COMAND screen when used in conjunction with Android Auto. So will Google Maps navigation. That's one of the huge differences between Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

Thanks, I have an Iphone , so I guess I can't do it for free... Correct?

That would be correct. Apple has a licensing agreement to use Google Maps on iPhones, but not with Android Auto. Makes no sense at all to me. I believe this will eventually change, just based on customer demand. Who knows when. It could be next week. It could be three years from now. I know this won't help you now. The best I can tell right now, is to just get a phone mount and continue using your phone for WAZE. Get one that positions your phone "high" and therefore close to your line-of-sight when looking out the windshield. That's the best part about using the COMAND screen. It's nice and high. Higher than any conventional in-dash display. You're not constantly looking down, away from the road. For obvious reasons, doing that is a major hazard.

Frank, thanks for the recognition. I get satisfaction just knowing I'm appreciated. I just genuinely enjoy helping people. I guess that's why I also do volunteer work as well. Enjoy the new year as well.

Google Maps wouldn't need a licensing agreement with Android Auto since Google LLC is the creator of the app Android Auto. Am I missing something else there???

Yes, I'm aware of that. That's why Android Auto is compatible with Google Maps. Apple is the one who needs the licensing agreement with Google to use Google Maps with Apple Car Play. Apparently, Apple paid to be able to use Google Maps on their phones, but no such agreement exists for Apple Car Play.

Did you know you can activate "Siri" by using a long press of the Voice Control button on the steering wheel? A short press turns on the MB Voice Control. A long press (about 2 seconds) turns on Siri or "OK Google" for Android phones. You can now operate ANY of your phone's normal features....completely hands-free. Of course, your phone must have a Bluetooth connection to the car first.

I can't speak on Waze, but lately I've been using Google Maps exclusively. Love the clear, concise view, the accuracy and the real-time traffic alerts. It even shows impending traffic delays caused by a red light!!!

I've been using Waze exclusively for about a week now. I have to say, I absolutely love it! I especially like the roadside reports. Here are some tips:
- Check out some of the other voices. "Maurice LaMarche" is my current favorite.
- Set "Show Speed Limit" to "Always Show Speed Limit". Set "When to Show" to "At Speed Limit". Now, your current speed will change from black numbers to red numbers whenever you reach the speed limit. Makes it very easy to monitor your speed.

If your Waze works correctly from the phone but doesn't work via Car Play, then the problem may not be with Waze. The problem may be with Car Play and how it interacts with Waze. In that case, Apple needs to address the bug in their current version of Car Play. To be on the safe side, I would notify both Apple and Waze. Maybe they can work together to fix it.

Notify the developer (support@waze.com). Hopefully, they can implement a fix in the next version.
Please be advised that Apple CarPlay currently does not support our speedometer. We are working on an alternative to indicate drivers on speed limit. Please stay tuned for the upcoming updates.
Best regards,
The Waze Support team
