Highest Indicated MPG GLE 43 Coupe ? (25 MPG)
I was on an evening drive in the suburbs with the wife, low traffic, temps low 70s, flat roads. Saw that I was getting pretty good mileage on the way out, so decided on the way home to see how high I could get the mileage on a 1 hour round trip drive.
Wife said try to drive 55 mpg on a short highway stretch. It was really hard, but I drove in the right hand lane at 55 mph for almost 3 mile highway stretch! Trucks were passing us.
Really surprised when I got home to see 25 MPG indicated for the entire 1 hr trip ! 23 MPG was previously the highest mileage I have ever seen indicated on my car. The surprising part was I took the scenic route on the way out, otherwise might have even been over 25 MPG. Also was running the large 22" wheels.
What is the highest MPG you guys have seen ?
25 MPG on 1 Hr Round Trip
However, be prepared. Be very prepared, because it doesn't last.

I have a fuelly.com account, and I keep very accurate records on our fill ups. Our overall average over 21K miles is 17.8MPG, with our BEST being 19.9MPG. I've also noticed that we are generally about 1.5 MPG higher on the indicated than we are on the actual.
YMMV.

Over 55 fill ups, we have averaged 1.06 MPG indicated vs. actual, with the indicated always being higher, except for the first tank. I'm calling that one a fluke.
The max that we've been off indicated vs. actual was 2.11 MPG, and the min was .22 MPG.
In the end, for us, I think that it's safe to say that we're off about 1 MPG indicated vs. actual.
I'm actually surprised that it's this far off. Our first MB was an E320 CDI. That car was just about spot on indicated vs. actual almost every time. Back then, I wasn't keeping the records, so I don't know that for sure, but I do know that it was generally "closer" than the GLE is...
One odd thing about your 41 mph avg is your average fuel economy is only 17.8 mpg. Mine is 19.9 mpg (indicated, not calculated) at a lower 31 mph average. Even if my indicated mpg is optimistic by 1.5 mpg, I would still be at 18.4 mpg. Seems if I could be at 41 mph, my mpg would be much higher than 17.8 mpg. BTW, steady driving at 45 mph seems to be the best mpg for my car.
Also, kuddos for your great work on fuelly, impressed with your meticulous record keeping! I snap a photo of my odometer mileage and the gallons indicated on the fuel pump every fill up, but have not gotten around to calculating any actual mpg. You are motivating me to do it!

Yeah, I have found that I have to put those values in at the time of fill-up or they get lost. I do occasionally put the receipt in the car, and then fill it out later, but I have to still remember. I think that I've still missed two on the Benz. On our last vehicle, which we owned for years, I probably missed less than 15 over the life of the vehicle...

What kind of driving are you doing and what is the average speed ? I could not average 22 mpg even on a long highway trip.

My last car was a Lincoln MKZ hybrid.I made a game of using all the gas saving driving techniques to see how high I could get my MPG readings.Like coasting up to stops, feather starts, doing the speed limit. Most of my driving is highway. In the MKZ,I beat the sticker-listed MPG estimates.
Still use the same gas-saving habits with my GLE 43 coupe.
I had forgotten that I had used the car for hauling full loads of equipment when my relative moved his office upstate. That did drop my total mpg down. Here is a reading for the past1800 miles----22.4mpg.

I often pull away from lights slowly, upshift early (under 2000 rpm), coast to red lights, etc. and most of my miles have been on a long highway road trip. Still, only 19.9 MPG average over the last 7700 miles (22 mpg hwy, city driving mpg is more like 13 mpg).
What are your sorcerer tricks to achieve this MPG (or do you use another car for low MPG drives)?

....
coast to red lights
usually only me in car so except for the moving event, not hauling much weight
Stick to the speed limit
Use cruise-control whenever possible
listen to Burl Ives music
Disclaimer:
Not sure how much the last one effected my mileage
