Talking GLE53 COUPE YOUNG MANS OR MATURE MANS?

Hello everyone. I currently have the 2020 GLE 350 and already making preparations for picking out my next MB. Problem is, can't decide between the GLE53 SUV or Coupe. As the title implies, is the GLE53 Coupe a young mans car? For the record, I am 50.

Why does it matter? Drive what you like and who cares what others think? That's my opinion. For what it's worth, I'm only a few years older than you....

The only issue I have is that apparently no one told MB that the C in CUV does not stand for Coupe. A coupe is a two door vehicle. A CUV is a crossover utility vehicle. I would not go with the "coupe" for those reasons alone. Not to mention, the original styling cues are from a Pontiac Aztec.

Well, I'm older than you. But the reason I opted for an SUV (aside from cargo space) was that I kept bonking my head on the door opening. It was too close for my 6 foot height.

Plus, Us Old Guys like Sleepers instead of Boy Racers, so the SUV also fits the Stealth profile.

Let's be honest. GLE Coupe's are girls cars. I have always seen a female drive it to the soccer matches. Cool moms.

And then there is me. A 40 year old that actually takes it to the track burning tires and brakes off, while climbing mountains and driving through deep sand.

It's what you make of it.

I'm mid 50s and have the 2021 AMG GLE63S Coupe.

Pontiac Aztec, not a coupe, soccer mom car - blah blah blah - whatever.

It is a bad m'fer; so, if you get one you will enjoy it.

Can't make a decision or is it image? Drive both and see what one you like. My wife didn't like the coupe. Rearward vision was not as good in all other respects it was the same so she went with the SUV.

I had to replace my 2008 ML 350 w/ 150k miles on it. I really liked the ML because it drove like a car and great visibility. However, when I drove the new GLE SUV, it felt more "truck-like" than my old ML 350. I chose the GLE 53 coupe because it drove more like a car and felt safe, like I was in a small tank. The visibility is limited, but the cameras and safety features like lane keeping assist accommodate for the smaller rear windshield. I am 55 and had mine for 4 months. It took awhile to get used to driving it, but now I love it.

2021 GLE 53 Iridium Silver
I bought my GLE53 Coupe after owning a C63S Cab that had been chipped and upgraded turbos. There are fewer and fewer places you can drive a car with that much power so moving to the GLE63 was not a very practical decision. Also in Canada you can't drive the C63 more than about 6 months of the year so that made the choice even easier. I find the GLE53 has more than enough power and am very surprised by how well it drives and corners. I will put winter tires on my GLE and use it as a full time vehicle. I am 65 so age means nothing in regards to what vehicle you drive.

We replaced our GLC63 with the GLE53. The GLC63 had an annoying "clunk" while backing and turning. All perfectly normal according to the three dealers! GLC63 was never smooth and seemed nervous when you drove it. I've had three '63 models and this was a disappointment. I don't think they spent the engineering $ on the GLC chassis and drive train.
The GLE53 is marvelous, smooth, quiet and fast. Also far more economical to the thirsty 63. No regrets on the change.
